8 wheels new artic

Big Al:
Nick some daylight pictures of the yellow 8 legger sent to me by Graham Wilson of H.C.Wilson. I would think you would have to charge some
serious rates to make this beast pay.The stainless steel alone would pay off my mortgage. regards Big Al

Wasn’t this truck in Truck and Driver back along

some cracking pictures, is the yellow one now owned by wilons then?

keep the pictures coming!!!

Yes it was in truck & driver, it is owned by f.g bond that normally run green and black erfs, dafs and fodens on blocks, tipper and skip work so abit of a change from the norm.

The first factory built 8 wheel artic I saw was a Scammell Samson in 1971 it was based at Pickfords Sheffield depot coupled to a crane trailer G.V.W. 85 tons with a payload of 60 tons it was a one off in the U.K. but there was about 6 exported to New Zealand for the livestock trailers. When introduced it was way ahead of anything else at the time and was powered by a V8 Detroit Diesel rated at 290bhp and 15 speed fuller road ranger gear box the trailer was a low loader and it could also be converted into a semi low loader comming level with the rear deck. The rear bogie could be steered if required but ran pinned up in general use.

That would be worth a bit of beer money at the scrap yard

I see MTL have bought back the 143 from Teasdale. What’s the story behind RTH - Lubbers stickers on their OAF? I know they operate a couple trucks from there?
