Hi All
Has anyone seen Daily Mail news ? It claims that lorry drivers can earn £78000!
I’d love £78000, Who would not. Is it just another tabloid trash story?

If I worked every other Sunday as o/t, exceeded 45hrs a week, worked only nights and was allowed to do 5 shifts rota every week then maybe, just maybe I could break £60k. A few Sundays back we were paid £45ph to work Sunday, now its returned back to £33ph.

Someone - might have been Grant Schnapps so it’s almost certainly a lie - that it was a “top milk company” paying the 78 grand.
In other news by all accounts train drivers are now walking away to be truck drivers.
Best thing to do with such a publication is to recycle it via wiping your ring piece with it, same goes for the rest of the msm.
I’ve spoke to a few people online (who aren’t truckers) saying ‘wow you can earn a 100k’, they actually believe this ■■■■■■
This is exactly why we have lemmings queuing up at petrol stations.

At least there leaving the train drivers alone for once
78K on the railway is an easy target.
But you would pay 42% (soon to be 43.5%) on 28K. So nearly 12K in tax/NI. So unless your going to max your pension, why bother.
Sounds about right for a newly qualified driver with no experience. I’m on £117 000 p.a. working about 37hrs per week. Best job ever
I wouldn’t get out of bed for that.

But that’s including your night out money, right?
At this rate we’ll be up to £300k by the end of the week.
There is always an outlier, but they are exactly that - an outlier.
never earned more than 27k on general haulage / tramping out of Scotland for the last 20 odd year, what’s changed?
PPE required:
(1) One Tardis - so you can jump in on friday night, go back in time to Monday Breakfast time, and work 96 hours by doing the same 48 hours twice. If it works for DCPC modules - why not for your weekly shifts too?
(2) A second Hi Viz so yards don’t realize you are the same guy that worked there already that week. No one looks at your face otherwise, as eyes are routinely downcast everywhere at work
(3) One Tardis - so you can teleport into a bank vault, and help yourself to your daily bread rather than have to work for it at all…
…Oh f… it.
One Tardis - is all you need.
Usually these stories are BS.
E.g. one firm will offer £35 for every hour worked as overtime on a weekend or just a sunday.
Then the tabloid will go well they are paying £35 an hour. So £35 an hour for a monday to friday 40 hour week is 72k a year! OMG TRUCKERS PAID 72k+ A YEAR.

Regarding your 1980s mindset, nothing.
