And the one on the M42 eastbound towards Coalville,firstly what’s the point ? If it’s to keep a lane flowing then why not make all duals 7.5t weight limits. Secondly,and it may sound a daft question but if a traffic cop caught you overtaking in the enforced area would it be the same offence as driving on a normal 7.5 t limit road ?
i dont know for part 2 but the first bit is so the important car drivers dont have to wait while 2 trucks crawl past each other for miles as one refuses the drop their limiter down a click or 2 to allow the other past.

Yep.
They are usually on long uphill drags like the ones on the A34 nthbound too. The point is, trucks tend slow down going uphill, so it keeps the 2nd lane moving faster I suppose.
