Jenson Button:
As above… if you have 69 hours back to back rests then you can say you have had a regular and a reduced rest how does this work? and if you did this it says the max is then 144 hours work??
… put it in terms I can understand please
Lets see if this helps
First the 144 hour rule, what that is,its the number of hours you can do between weekly rest. that’s to say 6x24 hours periods as the EU use.
So that means if you start work after a weekly rest, you can be at work for 144 hours before a weekly rest is required( subject to any compensation require for any reduced rests)
How does a 69 hour back to back rest work, the easy answer is its two rests a 45 in week 1 and a 24 in week two, but run concurrently.
So how does it work you mite say.
Lets say your boss needs you to work up to Saturday in week one and needs you two work Saturday and Sunday in week two, but both weeks have to be 144 hours long to make max use of truck.
Now as you know you need two show two rest in any two consecutive weeks.
week 1
46 hours rest finished at 23.59 Sunday
week 2
start work
Monday at 00:00 till 13:00 rest 11 hours
Tuesday at 00:00 till 13:00 rest 11 hours
Wednesday at 00:00 till 13:00 rest 11 hours
Thursday at 00:00 till 13:00 rest 11 hours
Friday at 00:00 till 13:00 rest 11 hours
Saturday at 00:00 till 13:00 rest 11 hours
so you have done 144 up till 00:00 Sunday which includes your daily rest, so your weekly rest starts at 13:00 and you take 45( this is because a daily rest can become a weekly rest) of for that week, now you know your boss as ask you to work Saturday and Sunday so you take 24 hours rest of at the end of the 45 hours rest therefore doing a back to back rest, and start work at
week 3
Monday at Rest
Tuesday at Rest
Wednesday at Rest total hours of 69
Wednesday at 10:00 till 23:00 rest 11:00 hours
Thursday at 10:00 till 23:00 rest 11:00 hours
Friday at 10:00 till 23:00 rest 11:00 hours
Saturday at 10:00 till 23:00 rest 11:00 hours
Sunday at 10:00 till 23:00 rest 11.00 hours
week 4
Monday at 10:00 till 23:00 rest 11:00 hours
So now you can take a rest, this can be just 24 hours to cover the 144 hours rule. but you would still need to take a 45 hour rest no later than 23:59 Sunday ( this is because you last weeks rest was reduced)
Please note the time are only examples, but you mite get the point
