I don’t know as only had motor since Tuesday, I would assume they do, also I forgot to mention that new Dafs have lane departure control as standard as well, which gets switched off straight away, but resets every time ignition turns off

Go on then :unamused: …wtf is a ‘‘Lane departure control’’ or are you just winding me up now?

No wind up…when you cross a white line the dash flashes & there’s a loud buzzer sounds or if your on a road with faded lines it keeps going off hence why I turn it off

It tracks the lanes lines on either side of the cab. You drift over said line and the system will issue a warning. I remember Volvo having it but it sent a vibration to which ever side of the seat the lane was you were drifting over. Now you know why if you see a Volvo driven by a women hugging the white line going down the motorway

It’s a standard feature on new trucks, probably thanks to Brussels

Do the brake lights come on when this thing kicks in then?
(Maybe a silly question on reflection.)
If so I reckon you will get a few coffee shaker signs from unaware folllowing drivers when they overtake you thinking you are braking for [zb] all.

I’d imagine it would kick in the exhaust brake to bring things back in line and to my knowledge the exhaust brake activates the brake lights.

It’s not the exhaust brake as its to forcefull

So it applies the service brakes? Bet that would wake you up.

Think of it this way…if your in queue & it leaves a sensible gap what happens…a car normally fills that gap so the brakes come on to maintain the gap, so another car jumps in & yet again the brakes come on…and it goes on & on & on

Exhaust brake slows nothing down in neutral

Drift:
Crack on mine does 58mph, and yes I have an Irish surname
I did an overspeed printout out and found my wagon did 110kpm for 15 minutes or there about, more than once :open_mouth:

that all lol   , best thing about buying a truck thats been over to n/i va va voom :grimacing: :grimacing: , and its just had its calibration and no more for 6yrs :grimacing:

Based on the 63 plate, not immediately! Using the exhaust brake to knock a few kms off your speed will not activate the brake lights. You will hear the click from the fuse box when the brake lights illuminate after it drops a cog

Using the loud pedal overrides the AEBS… or switch it off. :unamused:
Lane departure control only gives an audible warning through the speakers on the side which is going over a white line, and only if you have not used your indicator just before crossing the line. It does not apply any brake… :unamused:

May I suggest that some drivers read the manual that comes with the truck?

Its not saying his limiter is set at 60 its saying what the speedlimits are for that vehicle on the different type of roads, ok your limiter is set at 56 but the speed limit is 60 , thats all its referring to

+1
to be fair…its common knowledge over here that £100 sets it up nicely to show 56 when your doing 62…a wee different thingy gets it to 64…not counting the must make the boat buttons that are somewhat obligatory depending on who your working for…

Started card 0315 Thur@ Lymn, loaded NFT Middleton, 45@ Southwaite and still made 1030P&O Cairnryan,

I’m going to assume that comment was aimed in my direction!!

The operators manual must be an optional extra as never seen it

New trucks are issued with a manual. (Ours were in German, but that’s a different story :unamused: ). If your boss wants the best from his trucks, he should either supply you with a manual, or arrange a training drive with an instructor who knows the DAF.
Alternatively, there are instruction videos on you tube.

Nah,
no button as such just the yoke well calibrated and:
“Never late in a V8”!!![emoji6]

that’s what annoys me,the official speed limit is 60mph for hgvs on motorways and duals, but we are still limited to 56 mph, still all about companies saving fuel I suppose

I think it’s a Brussels directive that all trucks are limited to a maximum of 90kmph.

Trouble is there geared to run at 56 , even if we left the eu and got the trucks back upto 60 most firms would leave the limit set as it is , if you put a modern truck upto 60 you would be running at the top of the green band and fuel economy would go out of the window

TheNewBoy:
Overspeeds will soon become a thing of the past, as my brand new daf has AEBS ( automatic emergency braking system ) as standard & adaptive cruise control & the brakes automatically come on when I hit 95 kph or if it senses I’m to close to vehicle in front so…if I want to overtake I have to pull out when I’m about 2-3 lorry length in front of me of the brakes come on to slow me down, also if another vehicle cuts in from to close, you guessed it…the brakes come on to maintain the set distance

Danger of over-heating your Brakes which may result in Brake fading :bulb:

If the speed limit is 60 why do we worry about getting overspeeds? (Okay so not all of us worry. Seen artic tippers probably doing 65 on big hills :open_mouth:)

65 that’s nothing, I can remember once dead of night empty road A20 going down a hill ,(one of many near Dover) looked at the speedo, and it was nearly off the clock ,lol it soon lost momentum and slowed down again though , over speeds what are they :open_mouth:

Tyres not build for that Speed. (may blow out)

Which is also why or so I’m told the trucks that run at less I.E. Tesco have problems.
