Can a night worker work 6 night shifts in a row starting on a Monday,
E.G.Start Monday 18:00- finishTues 03:00
do this to Friday night finish Sat morning 06:00.
Then go in for a Sat night shift 18:00 - 03:00 you have done 6 nights but i cant see where you get your 36 reduced rest.
Is it me?.
Assuming this is a continuous pattern of work you will have your weekly rest period between the shift that finishes Sunday morning and the one that begins Monday evening. In this case 39 hours, leaving you 6 hours reduced weekly rest to compensate for. This is achieved on the first daily rest period after the shift beginning Monday night and finishing Tuesday morning, when you have 15 hours rest between 03:00 and 18:00 - 9 hour daily rest + 6 hours compensation. This reduction in daily rest to 9 hours leaves 2 hours to compensate for, which is taken care of in any of the other daily rest periods during the week.
If this isn’t a regular patter of work the earliest you can start work after the shift that finishes 03:00 Sunday morning would be 15:00 Monday. That would mean 9 hours would need to be compensated for and would most likely need to be tagged onto a weekly rest period, depending on pattern of work.
Cheers Niel i didnt know you could stagger a weekly rest beyond 23.59 on a Sunday night and the following week i thought that might be counted as having a weekly rest and then adding what you have on the Monday “en Bloc”.
Its hard to explain what i mean but im sure you understand it.
I understand what you mean, but it is no different to a driver working 6 days, Monday to Saturday, and taking their weekly rest from Saturday afternoon until Monday morning.
