The job I really want to do (farm work) for a company I’ve worked for before that I like has the caveat of it being a fixed term 6 month contract. Does anyone have a contract like this? It worries me a bit not having the security of a normal contract. Think I will go for it regardless as I do work hard so see no reason they’d not renew it.
Depends what the work is I suppose
What kind of farmwork? A six month contract takes you through the summer harvest/silage season when it is all go and then you are into the winter when there is very little happening. My cousin works for a farm contractor and from the end of May till mid September he works from 5am till nearly midnight 7 days a week but during the winter it is 6/7/8 hour days 5 days a week

Good plan. Tbh there’s no decent pension scheme where I work now, so nothing to keep me there. Might aswell just go for it and if after 6 month there’s no work I can get another job.
Either that or try your luck over the pond as a driver seasonal farm work
