6 hour WTD break query

Just a quick question regarding the 6 hours WTD. I very rarely reach the 4.5 hrs driving time due to being on multidrop. So if I start work at 0200 and have a 45 minute break at 0700…how long am I covered to work for again? I know it wipes the slate clean for me to drive 4.5 hrs if I wanted too, but what about WTD? Thx

You can then work another 6 hrs without taking a break.

Ok cool, so so long as I take a 45 minute break before my first six hours is up, I’m covered for the 9 hr WTD and can work for a further 6 hours from my break?

Yes

Yes

Ok thank you for your help!

How much break you need during the entire shift depends on the length of the shift, it’s 30 minutes if the total working time is between six and nine hours and 45 minutes if the total working time is over nine hours, working time does not include breaks or POA.

For the six hour rule you need a break of at-least 15 minutes before going over six hours working time, so if you have a 45 minute break five hours after starting work you would need another 15 minute break no later than six hours from the end of the 45 minute break.

Example:
02:00 - start work.
07:00-07:45 - have a 45 minute break.
13:45 - you need to start another 15 minute break.

This has just answered a question I was about to ask. Thanx MD for the Q & Tacho for the A.
I think I got my first infringement (insufficient break) on Saturday morning as due to taking only 45 minsk break and did kno I had to add an extra 15 afterward

From now on, I know I will stay clean

Many get caught out on the back half of the shift
