6 cylinder Scanias

Is the six cylinder scania engine (DSC11?), as was in my dads 112 and 113s the same lump that is in a new euro6 R410?. Was just pondering this when I seen one the other day, his were 360bhp but it was available at 380bhp with Electronic diesel control (EDC) in later 3 series. Although when the 4 series came out the 124 was rated at 360&400bhp there was still a 114 380 (same engine?), then R380, onto R400 and now R410. Is this the same engine right through from Scania 110s pre intercooler?.

Different engines mate,if you look at the 4 series engines onwards they got timing gear on rear of engine

Hey, from the mid '90 all marques got one by one new design engines.
The 114 was the same as the 124 but with a shorter stroke.
Even the 9 liter was rated up in cub till the 5 cyl came.
The first 110’s had the 76 engine and the last 110’s the 111 as the first 112 had still the 111.

Cheers Eric,

Thanks for the replies, I guess it would of been a bit of a feat for Scania still to be keeping an old engine like that going through the tighter emissions regulations. I had thought though that it was the 12L 124 engine that was a short stroke motor designed in part with ■■■■■■■ and meant to be much better on fuel than the old 11L unit.
