if you stick to 50 you aint gonna get sick of the cameras are you simples :unamused:

Drive to the speed limit and you don’t get fined, very simple really.

The reason they have cameras is because there are enough muppets about to make money with them, again very simple really.

I’m not whiter than white like some on here.
I’ve never been nicked by an average speed camera on a dual carriageway. and i’m flat out most of the time.

I don’t speed, I don’t shoplift, I don’t burgle houses, I don’t steal, therefore I don’t have to worry about being caught. Makes life so much easier and cheaper.

You forgot I don’t ■■■■ in church.

I’m glad you mentioned that, thanks.

10% plus 2mph equates to 57mph.

Er - average speed cameras don’t flash you…

Do you get paid an extra 10% for speeding?

Guys, for your own sakes please forget all about this 10% malarky. It’s merely a guideline and as such has little relevance to the real world, moreover it’s a guideline for Mr Average in his Mondeo or Sprinter van, it’s got absolutely no relevance for a vehicle fitted with a calibrated speed recording device (a tacho to you and I), so please don’t rely on it as a defence.

That’s the bit I’ve never understood - the 10% is the allowable error on a standard speedo, not a calibrated tacho / speedo setup. Why would you get the same leeway in a truck as a car?

I once deliberately ■■■■■■ rather loudly in York Minster just as a priest and a full boy`s choir was filing past. Thought I was safe as there were no church bouncers in sight, but think I got sussed as I was the only one in the vicinity who managed to keep a straight face.

I am still rather immature for my age. :grimacing:

There is no officially-allowed “leeway” - the oft-quoted 10% + 2mph is simply what the Association of Chief Police Officers (ACPO) give as a prosecution threshold in their guidelines for speed enforcement. Legally, all that has to be shown is that you were driving at a speed in excess of the limit for your vehicle on that particular road. The guidelines have no legal standing, and you would be daft to rely on it as a defence in any court proceedings.

very true and I think I am correct in saying that it doesn’t applies to cameras operated by safety partnerships, only the ones used by the police to prosecute.

AFAIK they apply the same prosecution guidelines - makes sense really as the prosecution side of things in the SCPs is dealt with by the Police.

Iv started going 50mph all the time, I’m not sure what’s come over me, but mpg increased from 8.5 to 9.8 every lorry, saving 125 litres a week

By this time next year, if not sooner, you’ll be able to do 56 on a DC in a lorry legally.
