I’m quite happy to plod at 30 40 50 55 all night long no stress no need to break your neck to get anywhere with correct planning

I’ve witnessed more stupid overtaking from impatient car drivers (and a few dumb-■■■ HGV drivers too) in the last year than I have in the whole of my driving career since the early 1980’s. Good for overtime but try doing a maximum 30.9 mph (setting CC to 63 km/hr) all the way from Welshpool to Carmarthen; not only frustrating for those following you (you can only pull into so many laybys) but it’s actually more tiring than driving in the high 40’s which is far more suitable for that road.And that’s where the problem really is
And it will not get any better when the limit is 50
correct because there will always be them that want to go a little faster
Being out in Wales I probably do more single-carriageway work than most do; my experience has always been that most cars will quite happily follow you at 50 until they can find somewhere reasonably safe to overtake. Cut your speed to 40 and drivers start doing really stupid things. I’ve got all-round CCTV in mine and some days I’d be tempted to flog the footage to one of those “World’s Daftest drivers” series, it’d keep them going for a series!
