50mph limited artics

Tesco toss pots no doubt, 49.5mph because they don’t give a Zb about others:!:

No. They care about your safety. It says so on all their trailers so it must be true.

Tosco has you on fixed route timed deliveries,no stopping,no pulling in to let others pass, and agency paid by the hour, and tracked to death with the murder enquiry “debriefing” if you deviate, harsh brake, leave the engine running for 3 mins drive with the rev counter outwith the green band, etcetc,so no matter when you leave the yard, and no matter how slow you go,then you are always early for your delivery.if you were to drive normal, you wouldn’t be back.1st rule at the induction was.“” its never going to be your fault if you are late…never ever speed"“”…when I had the misfortune to try working there, you were told, not to take breaks outwith the store or rdc, never pull in to let traffic past,so you cant blame the plobber Tosco drivers.i was doing 45 on the motorway, and 38 on a normal road in 3rd high gear instead of 4rth as this kept the rev counter in the middle of the green band which told the computer I was driving perfectly…beancounters to the last man.

Their not drivers they are slaves. Idiots working for such a shower

I have noticed that posters who use very hard to understand language for several posts, seem to slip one in at some point with almost perfect English.I wonder why that could be ?

It’s the morning, we sobered up

My Daf 310 is geared strangely. It’s an 8 speed and it goes out of the green band above 50-51. It’s also bloody noisy hence I stick to 50, paid by the hour too.

Right whats the point propably health and safety but what i can see on double carriageways is artics jumping in front of the cars causing fraffic slowing down which is right opposite isn’t

Higher fuel economy which is important given that fuel is a hauliers biggest bill. Also lower maintenance costs and more relaxed driving.

No idea what you’re bleating on about with artics jumping in front of cars.

OK Fuel consumption.
Why they buying Units which need 4 Liter by 100 Km more then the older?
Maybe there Bonus from Lorry Manifacturer is bigger, and then reducing Speed to 50 to get Fuel consumption a bit down. If not then they blame the Driver.

In my country we call double carrigeway, dual carrigeways.

double carriage Way means 2x Cariageway and Dual Carriageway means separated the Directions if i understand it right

I can sympathyse with that…mabey not exactly slaves.i was in ther for a while and the most boring brain numbing excersise in world history, more treated like brain dead lemmings than slaves…at least the slaves did a days work.

I drove a DAF rigid recently and when I got on the motorway and wound it up to the limiter I was looking for another gear. I was thinking, is there some sort of overdrive switch or something that I’m missing ?

What a racket it was, about 2000rpm too. Used to cruising at about 1300 in the artics.

I would be a slave for the wages that these guys are alleged to be on.
BTW, haven’t got a clue what matey the o/p is prattling on about either, :unamused:
Isn’t he the star artist that came on here asking for advice a few weeks ago and called us all useless ■■■■■ s when he didn’t get back what he wanted to hear  I love these guys on here

I dunno what the Tosco employed plobbers get,but the agency dudes were on £10 ph…£11 ph nights, and sats, and £12 ph sunday…that was after 3 wage restructures( cuts )over a 2 year period a Cpl years ago.the funny thing was that the agency dudes seemed to be generally obliging enough, while the Tosco plobbers were a bunch of marny moaning jobsworths( hardly surprising ). if you had any kind of incident, crack a mirror or mild ding, then it was always an immediate breathalyser, and then get the doc called out for a pee/drugs test…if you were Tosco employed, then it wasn’t uncommon for a Cpl of cocodomal to be swallowed, fail the drugs test, and be suspended on full pay (2 weeks) till the results came back as it showed up as opiate or something, then 2 weeks later, its only cocodomal and reinstated with no penalty.if it happened to an agency dude, then it was out the door with no pay…thereafter once it came back clear,it was another driving assessment assuming your face fitted, then back on the books.

You’d slave for £9.75/hour, time & a quarter overtime, work most weekends etc, 10% off in store, pension, drive zb trucks… Really?

tango boy:
It all boils down to Who’s a steering wheel attendant & who’s a real driver :sunglasses: :sunglasses:

Toby would appear to fall into the former category if he’s unable to safely deal with a vehicle going 4mph slower than his in a multi-lane road… :open_mouth:

toby1234abc:
I’m with the Joker on this one, he has a valid point, these limited at 50 mph or 52 mph is dangerous to other road users

Utter crap. If you can’t cope with coming across a vehicle driving 5MPH slower than you you shouldn’t have a license.

Did they legal permission to reduce the road speed ?

Speed limiters are supposed to be set to 85kph/52MPH. And is it the law that you have to do 30/40/50/60MPH?

If they are trundling along, then you will get artics jumping in front of cars.

Only if the driver is like you and not fit to hold a license. The rest of us with functioning brains can see we’re closing up on the 50MPH truck long before we get to them by the fact the back of their wagon is getting bigger in the window and we back off, looking for a gap to pull into without leaving it until we’re about to hit the arse of them before veering out into the path of a passing car.

So as you obviously seem not to be able to deal with them what you’re actually saying is you’re a bit of a crap driver. Thank you for informing us of your incompetence.

The trucks are designed to use less not more. The only reason they use more is because people like you are too stupid to learn how to drive them properly.

A very well put together post conor IMO.

This thread is the gift which keeps giving lol.
