…iv been on a bay 5 hours today…

Meanwhile, on another thread, some people are saying that salaried is better than hourly.

Bless 'em. :unamused:

+1. For the sense of humour !

Pull the card,man up
Says me,the guy who was too (zb) scared to whip his card out at the yard gate!

As long as you can provide a receipt for the grosvenor…you should be ok.
Make sure the valet uses his own card though.
Merry xmas everyonexx

I’ve been doing this job for 28 years now and I have NEVER met a VOSA inspector who would expect you to have a night out 20 minutes away from home.

As long as you are not doing it on a regular basis, then 15 - 20mins you will probably get away with in the UK. Abroad though it is a completely different matter. I was held up in snow last winter which put me 15 mins over. I did a printout and wrote on the back. The next week I was pulled by the CRS in France and made to pay.

My worst experience was at Amazon in Swansea a couple of years ago.
We were given an arrival time that gave us plus or minus 30 minutes, fair enough, but once you were booked in at the gatehouse you were their prisoner.
I always kept my office informed of the situation and Amazon were kept informed that if I was not tipped by a certain time, giving me 4 hours to get home, I would have to pull off the bay.
I delivered this load THREE times from Stoke to Swansea on a Saturday morning until after the third time we took the load back to the customer and told them to get some one else to deliver it, hope it wasn’t one of you guys!
I’m on Saturday rate paid hourly so it was a good earner for me!

How the bloody hell can the French fine you for something that happened in your own country :open_mouth:

These people are massive ■■■■■. They sent me away once coz the load I took in there, a few of the pallets had toppled over and they said they couldn’t accept the load. I offered to re-stack them but they still said no as they would be loose. OK I said, give me some shrink wrap and I’ll secure them. Wouldn’t do it. Wanted me to drive 140 mile back to base with the load to get it fixed.

Luckily we had a place close by where they gave me some shrink wrap and helped me re-stack the pallets. Having mentioned it to other drivers it’s not a one off either it would seem.

They’re ■■■■■■■■■ and pull this crap just because they can.

For hours offences you can be fined anywhere regardless of the location of the offence as long as you haven’t already been done for it. It wasn’t a fine from the French, it never is at the roadside. It’s a deposit you pay before it goes to court and it could have been appealed, probably successfully in this case. In the vast majority of occasions the fine the court decide on exactly matches the amount of deposit you paid. Occasionally you can get a bill for more and even more occasionally you get some of your deposit back. Many years ago I got some Deutsche Marks back after being asked to pay too much at the roadside

If it was a fridge trailer, could you switch it off and say something on the lines of…

‘Been sat here that long, it’s ran out / only had enough to get here and get unloaded’■■

Just seems all the threads on here are about RDC’s taking the pee. :unamused:

Another reason to get out of the EU.

In the mean time, I suggest our police start fining all the foreigners who seem to think it’s OK to have breaks under bridges round the top of the M25 where it’s been widened to 4 lanes.
