The driver of the lorry involved in the crash was arrested on Wednesday. He has since been released under investigation .

There seems to be a lot of assumptions regarding this incident/crash,
5 people have died, they have families, who are grieving, 1 is seriously Injured.
Another doesn’t know weather he will be charged with causing death by either dangerous or careless driving, he will be in limbo, even highly stressed for a period of time until the inquest or his court case,
Nobody is sure what company the truck was owned/ operated by, did it have adaptive cruise, did it have emergency brake open, both can be options, or standard fit…
Until some of you have been in the same situation think,.
I have views on non British persons, but on an open forum, not a good idea, there’s to many leftie, tree hugging, lentil eating guardian readers, about.

I am flippant about death BECAUSE I’ve had to deal with that kind of pain, watched my own Dad take his last breath on my 30th Birthday… yeah that makes my birthday a celebration every year eh? Just because I’m flippant about death doesn’t mean I’m talking nonsense, it just means I have a different outlook on life than you, it’s just the way each of us live our lives.
If you want to watch someone else being flippant about death watch this video, and if you don’t find it both funny and emotional then you really need to take a look at yourself.

This thread has taken a nose dive, there has always been a certain way the British have handled adversity death and destruction and that is with a helping of black humour.
One particular crass post that referred derogatorily to the dead in this case was edited by mods, i know it was mods because they edited the quoting in the critical reply from another poster.
There have been several posts that could probably be termed unpleasant and unecessarily refer to the nationality of people, mainly due to the number of people in the car.
Amazing how we can be so critical, blase even, about rules and regs when its suits us, hypocritically forgetting that we, all of us at one time or another, have bent or broken the rules many times and thankfully in most cases got away with it.
Whoever they were, whatever the reason they were all piled into that little Micra, the event of that accident must have been unimaginably devastating and one can only hope the poor souls were mercifully dead in double quick time, Lord knows how the poor bugger who lived will cope, physically and mentally scarred as they must be.
It is a tragedy, they didn’t deserve to end up crushed to death and serious injury due to their circumstances of the moment dictating that they had to travel like that.
There but for the grace of whatever you believe in, go any of us.
They leave behind families and loved ones whos lives have been shattered, i just think a little more decorum might have been applied to some of the postings here.

You’re quite right about that very crass post, including another post that quoted the crass bit, both were indeed edited by Mods and for exactly the reason you gave.
Mods have also deleted some posts, and some posts by those on pre-mod were disallowed and didn’t get to see the light of day.
Everybody who posts on TN has already electronically agreed to the forum rules, even if they haven’t read them, so the people concerned can hardly be surprised when their rule breaking posts get edited/deleted.
The owners of TN insist that racism, sexism, auto censor dodging and other nasty stuff has no place on TN, therefore some posters are getting close to being added to the pre-mod list. Whether that happens is in their own hands.

Evil put a joke the smoking thread aimed at me which showed some bird loosening her blouse, totally harmless and nowhere related to ■■■■. That was removed. So I answered by putting a joking comment about the mods protecting us from a bird showing her upper bits, as we as truckers had a delicate disposition and were totally shocked…or words to that effect

It’s a fair question, but I’m sorry I’m going to have to do an Arsene Wenger at this point… I didn’t actually see it…
My guess is that it got deleted under the ‘random crap’ rule because it was nothing to do with the topic.

My ex-girlfriend actually called it a George Formby for real once. I nearly fell off the chair. She was rather embarrassed
after interrogating my spies in norfolkline today,then between 5 different subbies then they are all aware a manfreight truck had a smack down the m6,but nobodys saying anything else about it,and im not on talking terms with anyone in manfreight as i have the not unique status of being barred by slimey slowey…the mystery continues,though id always hope the truckie dont get crucified as usual.

And I held my 2 day old daughter in my arms on Xmas eve back in 1992 when she took her last breath…she’d barely opened her eyes in her very short life but we were looking at each other at that final moment when everything stopped and my world collapsed. Until people have witnessed death like this, death on the roads is probably/normally caused by someone doing something they shouldn’t have been doing…I may be wrong but that’s my take on it…as for Xmas…shove it in a dark, tight, narrow passage as far as I’m concerned
