Hello, Sorry if i write in wrong topic. I m looking for used 5 axle container trailer d-tec do you know where where i can find?
Can somebody help? Do you know any Internet website with trailer market?
You mean a spliter skelly most trailer dealers would have them for sale
I’ve just found some in under 30 seconds prices start at around 12k by the looks google is your friend
There a rare beast in the UK, after seeing and working on my first one the other week.
There’s no call for them over here, as we can run above 4mtrs in the UK.
There (compared to UK stuff) complicated to use and operate, this one was a 3+2. Had 3 lift axles and 3 steering axles. And could have everything from all the axles on the floor to only having 2 on the floor.
The UK stuff I worked on, Dennision splitter, 3+1, one lift axle and can do everything the dtec does, just as well…
My advice. If your not going to split it that often, get one on drums, we have nothing but issue getting them to pass a UK mot brake test on the front half, when on disks.

Couldn’t tell you about how it all works, but the trailer is owned by an owner driver, and he had a 4x2 unit under it, so I’m assuming it’s to do with axle and gross weights.
D-tec, nootboom, are the 2 that cross my mind. And Dennision and montracon. As above, I’m assuming they only have 1 axle on the lead trailer as most UK container operators use a 6x2 unit. So there isn’t a need to put 2 axles in the trailer.
I’m sure they came fairly obsolete here because when running a heavy 20 it had to sit on the back end to be tipped and you could not get enough weight thru the pin . Nootboom did another option called a flex liner which I think was a bit more uk friendly but still didn’t take off here

Unfortunately when the sliding combi skelly arrived, from the likes of, Dennision, montracon, etc, it was simple and easy, and is a strong and robust design. And can take everything from a center mounted 20" to 2x20" to a 45" box’s.
Yes with a combi skelly you can split the trailer and do 2 deliverys, but how often do you see it happen? Also the D-tec /nootboom trailers are designed go on a 4x2 euro unit, I.e. Lwb, low 5th wheel height, 4mtr running height.

I’m sure there are still limitations on heavy single 20 foot boxes with the dennison splitters as they still can’t tip a centre mounted box . I think raven trailers did manage to do something but where short liveed Unfortunately the major players keep most of the double droppers to themselves . There are plenty of 6x2 s running about on 1100mm 5th wheels which suited the dtech better than the 1250

Your guess is as good as mine on the center box’s, some of the UK ones seem to be equipped to take a center box, others not.
Yeah I remember raven, iirc it was a 3 axle splitter skelly, but the 1st axle actually slid from one trailer to the other, can see why it didn’t take off, too complicated…
As for the 1100-1250mm 5th wheels, I can only work off what I see, which is north Sea containers in to Immingham which are 45fts. And a brief 3day visit to our sister workshop in Felixstowe which was all 20/40ft box’s.
I knew of splitter skellys, but never actually worked on one till I went to Felixstowe… So I’ve only got limited knowledge on them. And can go off what the Felixstowe fitters say.
