45gal red diesel

ive done mixed loads with oxy /acetylene bottles and a bulk tank in the past not a problem after checking with the ever knowledgeable dave

and while wereon the subject of bulk tanks dave got a little query for ya been told by our customer that we now need " in tanks" on our adr for the 2000 and 3000ltr and the 10000 ltr in a shipping container ones rather than packages , is this correct or not, our DGSA hasnt got a clue so i told him ask someone who would know

luckily ive just had my adr come back after paying for the tank module course myself as i thought id would be useful in the future

Red is 75 ppl at all canal boat centres.I dont want to barge in ,or anything like that.

Can get it for 61ppl if you need it…

We had a few fuel trailers in the RAF that were 990ltrs but with all the fire extinguishers they looked like small fire trucks with a huge fuel tank!
Reason why we had them was that no one needed an ADR to tow them…but the younger generation needed trailer licences!!!

Brown coloured diesel is available in Spain, and heating oil and fridge trailer fuel at AS24 pumps all over France.

Hi Andy,

Sorry mate, but people tend to have their own definitions of things and lots of people slaughter the word “tank,” so could I ask for a slightly better description please?
Pictures would be even more helpful if possible please.

What stuff is carried in these “tanks” please?
From the info you’ve given, the 10,000 ltr (ten thousand■■?) will probably need an ‘in tanks’ licence.

Yes Andy, your ADR tanker licence is possibly going to become useful, but if it turns out that it’s needed for the job you’re on, your boss really should have paid for the course and exam, and paid you to attend.
TBF, you can let him off with that if you wish. :grimacing:

Diesel dave is the best in the business,he knows his stuff and helped a lot of us out, reducing fines from the Gendarmes,Douanes,BAG,and VOSA,well done.

Hi Ratchet,

The 990 liter size does indeed keep the drivers out of ADR licencing requirements, cos in the case of a tank vehicle, the ADR licence requirement only kicks in when the tank exceeds 1,000 liters.

I suppose we could take a punt at that price.

Too much coffee?
Brit pete gets slatted a lot for his, get on the train, but he knows Germany, there are quite a few on here that have a wealth of knowledge, myself, have had posts shot down in flames for breathing.

would not touch that fuel with a pole.

dieseldave, Could i trouble you for some information please? i oftern carry very small amounts (so dont need an adr) of “hazardous goods” (lots of different things). Would the 2kg powder extinguisher be what you need to carry with most things? or do you need alot of different extinguishers etc with different loads?
thanks
paul

suction pumps at the ready ,
where do you park up ? :grimacing:

Hi Paul,

Yes mate, the 2kg dry powder extinguisher is specified in ADR to be exactly that, and from the info you’ve given, that’s the only part of ADR that applies in your case.

thanks for the help dave

dave its fuel oil the tanks are bunded containers you can just make the 3000 litre type out on the back of this picture

Hi Andy,

Cheers for the pic.

As far as ADR is concerned, the the things on the truck are packages, and my guess is that’s the reason for the larger one not exceeding 3,000liters.
At <3,000 liters, it’s an IBC, which counts as a package.

Was the “10000” in your post a typo please? (Then I can put somebody’s tanker theory to bed. )

dave it wasnt a typo the biggest they do is a 10000 litre tank built into a normal 20ft shipping container hate shifting them as they arent baffled as i found out this morning

Hi Andy,

Thanks for the extra info.

Now we know that it is a 10,000liter tank container, it does need an ADR tanker licence.

And you’re right about the baffles, or rather, the lack of them.

A 250 ml can costs on average £2,how much would a road tanker full of the stuff cost?At full price, not the price it costs to make it,that is.?
