44 AXE

I quite often see Axminster Carpets DAF 6 wheeler 44 AXE running about (twice today) It is so shiny you can spot it a mile off, i know there are some drivers who do take pride in their units but it’s unusual to see a rigid so well turned out.

I can’t decide whether to be impressed by the time the guy must spend on it or feel sorry that he hasn’t got anything better to do  Seriously though he must spend hours and hours on it.

Didn’t they do a big spread on them in Truck and Driver a few years back if I remember rightly. I think they did spend the time on it as part of the company image.

I saw him running down the A12 this evening towards London. The photo feature in the magazine did show the trucks looking amazing I remember that and it still looked good today

Wonder if they are paid to do all that cleaning too. I suppose you don’t want carpets getting dirty though being unloaded so makes sense

Hope your keeping well though 8 Wheels in the plant game! :sunglasses:

P.S. Had the username amended as now on the look out for work!

I’m sure I’ve seen another Axminster rigid, tidy but nothing special. That 44 can be spotted miles off, so I reckon it’s the driver more than the firm.

I know that delivering carpets isn’t going to be the dirtiest job but it is insanely clean. Not a job for me then  although I did get a brush and bucket of soapy water out yesterday as the remnants of some quarry work about 3 weeks ago still had not worn off in the rain.

i can’t remember the drivers name, but he had won more prizes at truck shows than i care to count, thats his newest truck i think its 18 months old, but the guy is a perfectionest, they even take all the wheels off the day or so before a show so that they can clean the insides, there was a story that on his old truck that if you looked under the body all the screws where all lined up and even the heads where cleaned out, now there is keen and there is keen but he takes it to a new level, saw him the other day on the A303 ladder out polishing :sunglasses: :sunglasses: :sunglasses: :sunglasses: :sunglasses: :sunglasses: :sunglasses:

No harm in having pride. I was the same when I had my own. Used to go in on a Sunday, AFTER it was washed by a company. Then do it again, and do the inside til’ it gleamed.

Careful, you’ll have the H&S police after him at this rate! Seriously though, if he has nothing better to do then good luck to him. In my experience, guys like this are best left to their own devices. I’ve known them to start interfering with parts of vehicles that are safety-critical or are required to be tightened to a specific torque, and I’ve seen the repair bills too.

Leave him to it.

its all stripped by the in house workshop, the company don’t mess around, to get on there is dead mans shoes :sunglasses: :sunglasses: :sunglasses:

tony moore is his name and yes you could eat your dinner off the truck from anywhere its that clean …i dont think he would thank you if you tried though

Good for him, he obviously enjoys it. Everyman to their own and all that.

I wonder if it is appreciated though.

CRAIG-D:
tony moore is his name

Maybe he was cleaning it and someone called out

TONY MOORE

by which he thought it meant

TONY More (polishing required)
…Taxi

It looks like Axminster prefer a tidy fleet.

That 94 AXE CF looks tidy but it’d look like a scrapper compared to 44

Registration marks like these are seriously old.
Does anyone know what town issued “XE”?

So he won’t be on here then if he’s constantly cleaning. Image is everything in the world of carpets then!

Would’ve been good to see some detail photos rather than me whizzing by in the opposite direction

The ones above looked neat especially the ERF :sunglasses: My old time favourite lorry! :unamused:

Now that is what I would call sad :unamused:

Cheers removalboy,

Tha’t one shiny truck and the one next to it don’t look too shabby either. Good to see some people are still proud of their work and working environment they get given to look after or own!

that’s his newest truck i think its 18 months old,

according to the my car checker app on the iPhone “44 axe” was registered on the 1st march 2008. 4 years old and looking much better than most fresh from the dealer motors.

That is tidy :sunglasses:

When I’ve spoke to him at truckfest he’s always come across as a nice bloke. They’ve always ran a tidy fleet and are probably the best known firm in that part of the world for it
