Im fairly sure he sold it to graham ball, who runs for astran and had it painted up in there colours, then it gets a bit sketchy,i think ma nd r from bedworth had it an painted it white, but a biggap in the middle, i bought it off a garage in nuneaton, who i think used to do m and r repairs.

COUPLE OF 143,s
The Alderson motor is still going strong, now belongs to Nicol Boilers of Shotts. I think it won a best working truck or something at one of the truck shows last year. Don’t have any photos though. Now registered as 1 BN. The black 143 looks like a Thorburn motor and I’m sure its the same one that James Richardson of Siberian Express fame had for sale at Truckfest Scotland last year, was parked alongside his ex-countrywide T-cab.
While we are on the subject I have a photo from Truckfest Scotland '94 or '95 of the Terminator Streamline and Im sure back then it was a 4x2. What happened there, same cab, new chassis or completely new truck.
Also, if you go into the Buy/Sell section of Roadtransport.com there is an ex-Astran 143 streamline 4x2 for sale.
Here is my contribution.

Take two !I’m sure I spotted this Scania on the M40 last Monday afternoon, around 1.00PM?..pulling an unwritten tautliner.
Rgds,
David
Yes, it was highly probable, its my personal truck, and when not on for astrans we generally keep in yard for locals and last minute jobs, we have a regular job from glos to basildon and she quite often does that route,
Heres one I have just bought from Holland and will be put to work shortly. Exterior is immaculate, Interior is good save for the head lining which is dirty and hanging down...soon to be replaced. It
s also got a straight through exhaust pipe with a switch in the cab so you can have a normal exhaust note or a "look at me. Ive got a V8" exhaust note. Despite in the past frowning upon those V8 Scania drivers that insist on making as much noise as possible I must say it does become addictive. I found myself on the trip back from Holland switching it to straight through on more than one occassion! You can
t beat a 143.
That is mint! Can we have some more pics please? I was alongside a Dutch scania on the m60 last year in my car, had to open the windows and sit next to him, sounded great! I’d love a 143 ( not a truck driver me) can only imagine what they are like to drive must be great, well done on the purchase all the best harry.
Thanks Harry. They are still nice trucks to drive, not as quiet inside as the latest generation but nice driving position, comfortable, nice light clutch, gear change and steering. Brakes were always a bit lacking on 3 series Scanias I used to think when I drove them in the 90
s This ones got cruise control which the 450s didn
t have plus air con, retarder etc and although ive not put a trailer on the back yet it feels like it
s got all its 500 horses still. It wants improving here and there but is a sound truck. I had an ex Richard Long 450 Streamline that I recently sold which I was going to restore but just didn
t have the time to as it had alot of tin worm. This one is virtually rust free. I`m looking forward to using it this summer. Here are some more pics.
Couldn`t upload 2 pics together for some reason so here is the other.
Good looking hos not a lot to do exterier to get it up to scratch
i worked for a Dutchman for a month, had a 143 500, that had a noisey switch, it was great coming off the 1st roundabout at Dover and heading up to the M20, and also going thru Dartford tunnel, both windows undone! Fantastic, still gives me goose pimples thinking about it!

Can’t remember where I took it, but I wouldn’t mind playing with this old girl!
You can if you pays the money, I just noticed it for sale in the buy/sell section!!
Smart motor eh?
Regards,
Mark.
Hi Mark,
Don’t tease me, could just get her on the drive if I re-arrange the Land Rovers & the caravan! Looking at the picture again though, is she the wagon that used to be run by the Scottish Owner Driver Graham Cordiner? I got an old Trucking mag up in the loft (along with about 5000 others, good job the dark-side can’t get uo there!), if I remember right he had a different kind of paint job with a Zebra on a Zebra crossing or something like that! Anyone else remember it, or maybe I’m wrong?
Regards Chris
F12drive: that’s so nice! Bet it sounds awesome too! Thanks for the pics.
ADR: I had an a3 poster of that blue scania on my bedroom wall as a kid! Seem to remember the interior was done by a red hot upholsterer- can’t think of his name now! really nice truck. All the best harry.

yes the terminator was originally a 4x2 but when the firm sold up it went too another local firm, they then sold it to someone in england who had the lift axle fitted

Special!
I believe this one was converted into a 3 axle wrecker by NY recovery of Kent who added the recovery equipment off a Kenworth of theirs which had been fire damaged, it later went to G Mutch recovery in Scotland but I don’t know if its still there.
Neil.
