That’s normal for them, isn’t it? Must be related to the numpties at Seaforth.

Never liked Tilbury all the times Ive been there. Only saving grace is TOP drivers always willing to help out a newbie and give advice and assistance.

How far down the road is the q? Worst I’ve seen was round to Freightliner.

Does it mess up the in-gates for deep sea when the short sea is bad now that they all use the same in-gate?
Edit that, I’m assuming the new one for all in-gate area is operational now??

Your jokin, I thought it was for 43, so they have decided to screw up 39 as well?

I went there a couple of years ago when it was closed because of the snow, there were trucks everywhere but I got straight in as I had an important piece of snow clearing equipment for them. A 1.5t mini digger to clear the snow between the stacks!

I’d agree they seem to be numpties at Seaforth. But why would you think a Tilbury delay is related to them, thats a serious question ?

Because they are operating in the dark ages compared to say Southampton and felixstowe, those two places seem to go out of there way to make the job more difficult than it needs to be.

They all used to be like Seaforth, only on a larger scale.

Seaforth really is tiny compared to the rest of them, some thing like 15/20 working bays, about 10 lifters going to service all the ships and the lorries. All the other docks i go to seem to have a lot more. I’m sure in its stats Seaforth will measure itself as very efficient. The downside is that hauliers will bear the brunt of this efficiency by waiting 2/3/4 hours for a turnaround. I’d doubt really that the staff are any less comitted or otherwise than anywhere else.

Out of the 36 transfer bays they have, I have never seen any out of action, apart from the dedicated tug bays. And I’m sure they will have more than 10 RTGs.
Are you sure you’ve actually been to royal Seaforth?

Over the past two months at least 40% of the bays at seaforth have been inop, due to repair, and over the last five or so years I can hardly recall a time when they were all open.

seaforth is set to get bigger due to them turning it into a deep sea depot

tilburys 43 berth and 39 berth, (short and deep sea) all now work under 1 entrance system.
pull up under the canopy, enter your details on the touch screen and away you go. so far so good it seems. don’t quite know how the dockers feel about it? i heard they were not to happy, but don’t know why, as other than the new entry system, the 2 berths, from a drivers point of view seem to still operate independently. i did here of mergers and job losses, but don’t know if any of this has happened?
be even more interesting to see what happens at tilbury docks in general once the new gateway terminal is all up and running just down the road.
