What are the cops up there view on it , cameras etc, do they enforce it rigidly or are you ok to bowl along at 50/56, I seem to be getting in the way doing 40 ish , so if the cops don’t enforce it I’ll go with the flow ta
Enforce what and where?
56 is the Scottish 40, and quite legal to do it on the A9
Fellow colleague of mine got 3 points for doing 51mph in a 40mph A-road.
Even though we subsidise them they’ve still got to rake in fines to compensate for having the SNP scum in charge. I will be sticking to 40 in future and continuing to go out of my to spend no money up there. I was starving the other morning but held out until Berwick.
Tris, you are a racist English pig !! an you lot nicked Berwick off the Scots back in the day, but hope you went to the chippy next to the dock entrance as best fish & chips for miles around (but the fish is Scottish)
if perchance your heading for stranraer area, then sitting at 40 will mean 1 of 2 things…1…you will get a tug by plod as obviously you have something to hide,or 2.you will get done for speeding if your doing in excess of 43… obviously the boat traffic will have taken your mirrors off by this time,so its best to leave the window down to listen for the sirens …alternatively, sit off the limiter in excess of 60 and blend in…no worries.

Why would you head for Stranraer
If you do more than 40 mph on that road you will be pulled & given a ticket or a nice letter that will come in the post for you to answer
On the limiter going through Newton Stewart or Maybole, just gotta love it I sat in Girvan for a few days and I thought I was in Ireland !

Hmmm, have you actually travelled on the 75? Anyway , plod up here won,t huckle you if you sit at 45-48ish,personally I sit at 52 and had no bother. If you have Norfolkline fridge on that’s another matter
D&G area plod won’t generally bother you unless you have an incident or are driving like a c*nt, the scamera vans on the other hand will happily take your money all day.

ive been pulled and done for 44 mph going downhill on the 3 lane stretch heading south nust before Dumfries…so anything over 40 is fair game for them. to be fair,it was with nfl…

Have travelled it many times to many to count tbh this is from experience btw (01.00 on a very clear night with no other traffic around ) so I now stick to speed limit
Lincolnshire tipper skipper overtook me at a good rate of knots last Tuesday on the A68, and took off up the hill like he was on a promise. Didn’t spot the panda that followed him up… . Passed him a few miles later, in a lay_by with the panda with it’s blues on behind him. Stick to 40 on single carriage roads. Also the number of speed cameras along the A68 is unreal.

I got a ticket for doing 51 mph on the A9 last year, although I was on the limiter when I spotted the camera van and started braking.
I got pulled over by police officers with a laser gun going into a village with a 40 mph limit at 56 mph, but blagged it and they let me off with waring.

If you’re going to spout crap you could at least get your facts correct.
All court fines go to HM Treasury, not to the Scottish Government.

your quite correct with the scamera vans, but d&g and the entire 97 iles of truck entrapment A 75 has to be the most anti truck section of euroroute road ive ever came across.there hidden behind hedges,on the grass on laybyes, and basically just out to do the never ending supply of trucks whether for the boat or otherwise…they failed to do me for speed at g.of fleet as I saw the glint of the hi viz behind the laybye bushes, nailed the brakes, and left a nice long ■■■■■■ down the road…they then followed me ,stopped me and and held me for 30 mins (were checking cards this week driver,),couldn’t find any fiddles…knowing full well im now cutting it fine for the boat…2 mins after they let me go,they went past me at about 100mph…5 mins up the road, theyre trying to do me wth the gun again, and after they missed me again,( I got shouted at by a southbound),the other big car was coincidentally sitting waiting at carsluith as they know im going to have to heavypedal for the boat or miss it…they’ve had 2 unmarked estate cars parked in a layby at newton stuart tagging all the boat traffic, the stopping them 1 hour later at Dumfries to se whos driving and whats on the cards etc…the a 75 plod are utter slime constantly trying to entrap hgvs and its not only myself that likes to gather up a weeks rubbish and empty it out the window heading for the boat.petty or what?,but they do not take prisoners especially if your on n.i. or paddy plates, nor if your pulling for nfl or the other hot favourites.
When did it become a 40 limit?
In Scotland its 40 mph on all single carriageways except the A9.Most trucks do 50 when safe butyou could find yourself making a contribution .I was pulled in Aberdeen and coughed up £50.00 for a width infringement on the old bridge of Dee in Aberdeen. The oil rice is down and Nicola does like a new well cut jacket so someone has to pay.

And yet there is no width limit on the carriageway. I was up there this week, chose to take the diversion as usual. In what way can they do you for using the bridge?
DD999 i usually agree wae ye but dumping the rubbish out the windae is out o order, does not bother the police on the 75 ,but for the poor council litter collectors that have to wander up and down the verges dodging p…h bottles its no their fault (most o them hate the police more than you
).
