40/56 Club

Found an old member of this club on A358 today. Was a shopping trolley (dark blue) lol

Think I met his brother today on the A47 between Uppingham and Leicester. Except I’d have been happy if he’d reached the dizzy heights of 40mph! Most of the journey behind this fella was conducted at 30mph except when we reached areas signposted 50, he slowed to 25mph there just to make sure.

As I sat behind him thinking of ever more painful and depraved ways to end his life I consoled myself with the fact that there are numerous crawler lanes along here so surely it wouldn’t last long. Wrong! He suddenly found the loud pedal and hit the limiter on these sections. Mind you he did redeem himself fully by standing on his brakes as he passed a speed camera. The fact that he was doing 20mph BELOW the limit as he approached it obviously didn’t enter his mind.

Not just any truck, an M &S truck. :imp:

Well I’m happy to report that crossing the A69 a couple of times this week has found all & sundry keeping to at least 50mph, and for long stretches top whack. Strangely liberating flying past the gatso at melkridge doing 50. Unfortunately for me I got the actros limited to 52.8mph this week.

I saw 2 trolley dollies yesterday. Both were doing 50 mph

One was Green and the other was Dark Blue

I don’t think there’s been enough publicity about the change. There’s a lot of the older generation of drivers, who don’t engage on social media, very unaware of the change. I had a bit of a row with a kemballs driver in the BP at Newmarket. I followed him across the A428 doing 38mph. When he pulled in behind me he asked why I gave him a dirty look. I said just because he wants to hang the job out, pull into a lay by and allow everyone past. He said he was sticking to the limit, then told me I was full of ■■■■■■■■ when I said the law had changed

   Kemballs Rate 1 driver for sure, got to love em :unamused:

On the other side off this thread, I was heading to Kings Lynn from Bury St Edmunds early hours this week, and enjoying the new freedom to make progress. But even 50 was not enough for Mr high flyer DAF man, right on My back door swerving out to have a look every few minutes, well I’m sorry, but I’m well happy with the change to 50 and that My son is plenty for Me, and I aint going no faster or pulling over for you :unamused:

i was stuck behind an Asda lorry driving at 37-38 mph on the A5 last sunday…but when we came to a 30mph village,he kept to the same speed!

Still 40 on the s/c in Scotland but that didn’t stop the mad Irish lorry stuck on my bumper, he over took me when a police car was coming the other way.
The copper was alone ,about mid twenties with blonde hair, must have been going home time, as she didn’t bat an eyelid with mad Max doing 60 towards her car.
A75 from Dumfries to the M6 is a race track for the ferry in both directions.

I joined the A15 at Lincoln last night about 6ish heading towards Scunny. Off in the distance were a couple of box jockeys followed by 10 or 15 cars, then me, then a handfull of cars behind me. Straight up to 50mph no bother, all the way to Scunny all the cars stayed in line, no idiotic overtakes, everybody stress free and getting there in one piece. A result for common sense I’d call that.

Yep much better and the 3 separate cameras have been recalibrated as well. Have checked em all out at 50 in the last couple of weeks

Opposite story from the other night.

A17, cruise control on 50mph. Fowler Wench (that’s right isn’t it? You know what I mean) truck pulled out over solid white lines, and over hatchlings for right turn segment to overtake me at, ooh, I’d guess 52mph.

If he’d waited another mile he could’ve gone past me at the roundabout as i needed some fuel anyway.

There will ALWAYS be someone who wants to go faster :unamused:
