4 on 4 off jobs /advice

Im.after some.advice.
Am thinking of going onto a 4 on 4 off job.
Does anyone know any places around Manchester area? Am near the airport.
I know Jack Richards Northwich do but they haven’t any vacancies. Ok there website

Also can somebody who does 4 on 4 off tell me.how the 15 hour rules works.

Is it 2 x 15 in a fixed week or a working week.

As am thinking if it’s 2 in a fixed week.
Then say your days in are sat sun mon tue. Could.you in theroy work 15 hrs on each day?

Maritime do 4 on 4 off on Trafford Park on curtains & have been advertising, if you don’t mind some long hours. ■■■■ easy clean work.

15hr rule works the same as if you work a conventional 5 day shift. You can do it 3 times Monday - Sunday.

So yes, if you worked Sat, Sun, Mon, Tues then you could do 15 on each day as your shift falls across two working weeks & then work 15 the following Sunday when your next shift starts as well, if thats what floats your boat.

“A driver may reduce their daily rest period to no less than 9 continuous hours, but this can be done no more than three times between any two weekly rest periods”

gov.uk/guidance/drivers-hou … vers-hours

3 reduced rests, between weekly rests.
If you want to, work 3 x 15hr days, 24hrs off, repeat.

I think not. You are saying 4 x 15`s without a 24 to reset them.

[But only 2 x 10hr drives per week 00-01 Mon to 23-59 Sun.
Taking a 24 does reset short daily rests, but does not reset 10hr drives]

No you couldn’t do that. You could do 3 x 15hrs over the Sat-Tues then a 15 on the following Sunday, as its between weekly rests not a fixed week.

The 10 hours drive is a fixed week, so in your example you could do a 10 hour drive on each day Sat-Tues, but only a 9 the following Sunday.

Why would anybody want to work 15 hours a day as a matter of routine ffs :unamused: .
I do a 4 on 3 off, yeh, I’m willing to do a 15 as and when needed, and I do, or when it suits myself for whatever reason,…and I get hourly pay.

If you are on salary and they actually expect you to max out wherever possible, they are wanting the last drop of blood out of you for the rate of pay,.and in effect if you do that you are knocking back your (unofficial) ‘hourly rate’.

Rather bizarrely it is possible to do 4 x 10hr drives on the bounce.
Sat and Sun…reset at midnight…Mon and Tues.

Yes. And that’s legal. But you can’t do 10 Monday and Tuesday, have Wednesday and Thursday off, do another two 10s Friday and Saturday. That’s not legal and is unsafe :unamused:

I know 10 hours is 2 a week mon to fri. All.ive ever done is mon to fri the occasianly Saturday.
So never had to worry to much how many 15 hours can do how many 10 hours driving etc.
Am.guessing on a 4 on 4 off.they just plan your days.and upto you to keep track remind them. What hours you can/can’t do.

I’ve often thought that the mixture of having a “fixed week” issue together with the “Between weekly rest periods” issue was a total CF by the authorities. One or the other yes, but a mixture of the two? I understand why DH rules are complicated, but that little twist is totally unnecessary IMO.

BTW, I worked 4/4 for many years and it was pretty neat, when you look closely you only work half the year  Then again, the company I worked for gave you one flat rate even when your shifts covered bank holidays & weekends

Don’t know why 3 on 3 off isn’t implemented given the rules we have to follow regarding reducers.

I did 4 on 4 off for a while and wouldn’t do it again. The problem is you only get 3 full weekends off in 8 which is not good if you value your saturday night social life.

The 4 days off are great though.

My bad, I thought otherwise.

Working consecutive 15hr shifts is not an area of the drivers regs I have ever had any interest in mastering to be fair!
