This happened to me a few weeks ago.

Hit the handbrake at 4:30 exactly, digi registered 4:31.

Ken.

Had this happen to me and was offered an infringement to sign for which I rejected.

Quite right MD. An infringment is that…an infringement of the law. If you havent driven more than 4.5 then you havent infringed! You didnt design the recording equipment and neither did anyone else on here. It doesnt record accurately. Not our fault.
You can`t be nicked for speeding with a faulty gun, more so when its known to be faulty so why a tacho?

You’re not signing to admit to an offence though, just that you’ve been informed of the recorded infringement and your boss has offered any explanations you may require

Don’t no why you find the need to drive till the last minute.
4 hrs 30 mins isn’t a target you can stop on 4hrs20mins…
Just saying .

Imagine you’re paid job and finish, and you’re 10 minutes from base, and you’re on 4:20. Once you get to base you can go home. Are you suggesting you stop for a 45? Would you stop for a 45?

Like I said in my previous post, normally stopped well before but nearly got caught out that time as there was queuing traffic on the M6.

I’ve actually stopped on 4.29 a few times, put the handbrake on, flipped my tacho onto break and them watched it turn over another minute to 4.30. As soon as It does that my daskboard computer screen lights up in RED and informs me that I’ve been driving too long :unamused:
I just give it the bird, tell it to go n get [zb]ed and then ignore it

I’m not even going to make a note in my diary about it, let alone do a printout.

Image popped into my head then Simon, of groundskeeper Willie out of The Simpsons shouting at his tractor…

A digi counts I segments. Abit like blocks ie 10 blocks = 10 sec. 60 blocks 1 min. Etc etc.

You prob did 4hrs 30min and 20 seconds .

You have to always round up what the clock says so always add an extra 2 mins . So you need to Actually stop on say 4hrs 28min .

Mainly on a first generation tacho especially if you have done a lot of stop start on your last bit of driving.
2nd generation will only round up to a full minute at most, but only if you have gone over 29 seconds in that last minute, other wise it will disregard it, then if you put it on break when you stop the last few seconds upto 29 will actually get counted as break!

Theres another trick on the new VDU’s where you can trick it into allowing you to move the vehicle without knocking it off break. Lets say you get told you need to move for whatever reason (I tell them to knackers anyway :stuck_out_tongue: ), what you can do is wait for the VDU to go over the next minute, then count 30 seconds using a watch or similar. Then, fire her up, and you have just under 1 minute in order to move the truck, stop and bang it straight back on break again before you get 30 seconds into the following minute.
So for example, 12.22.31 secs, start to drive, 12.23.29 secs, back on break the 22nd minute is rounded off as majority break, and so is the 23rd minute, so all gets counted as break so becomes non-interupted…

But dont tell anybody though, as its a little bit naughty

I do a drop in Croydon and slap it on break as soon as I pull up at the barrier.

You have to open the barrier yourself, drive through, close it behind you, nip down to their yard, back onto the bay, they normally have about 5 boxes, sometimes as many as 10, lol.

By the time I’ve done the reverse of the above, and got out through the barrier, bingo, a 15 killed off. On an old style tacho, I’d have probably lost about 10 mins driving, and got no break at all in.

the burger flipper has got the brains to take his break but wagon drivers break the law so they don’t have to take a break and then post/bragg about it on internet. no wonder the jobs ■■■■■■

Nope. Just take some breaks to keep legal. Take others to suit me.

Perhaps I ma misunderstanding what you are saying, if so apologise.
If you put it on break on reaching the barrier, then open it, drive through , stop and close the barrier, back on the loading bay, unload the goods etc etc.
Don’t you think that by entering fraudulent information (driving and working whilst showing break) you may be getting a more illegal situation than simply running over you times for a few minutes?

If as you claim, you have your legal breaks anyway, why bother fiddling about.
