4 axle PSK

I saw an axle configuration on a truck today that I’ve never come across before. A 4 axle PSK with a container. It was behind a 4X2 unit.

It was on the opposite carriageway to me so I didn’t get a good look at it although from the side you could see that the chassis was one piece and so it definitely wasn’t one of those ones that splits into two to deliver the front box.

It just looked identical to a standard tri axle trailer with an extra axle on it. I wondered if it was to allow the 2 axled unit to run at 44 tonnes? Would that be possible within the C&U regs? All the axles looked standard and it had standard sized wheels on it with an average overhang. It appeared to have an extra axle on the front of the tri bogie. You can imagine the length of the axle spread. I assume that the amount of tyre scrub must be colossal.

Can anyone shed any light

there is a thread on this somewhere■■?

paul

I’ve noticed this I think over the last couple of day tri-axle with another lifted up, I not sure if this also splits apart like the other trailer I spotted & started a thread sometime ago…mind you I could be wrong.

my mate drags ecs boxes outta tilbury and sees these trucks every day i will ask him to find out what there all about ive also seen them red and silver belgian regestered

It was a Dutch idea. Isn’t everything.
I have seen a lot running out of Felixstowe and we used to get the odd ones picking Aston Martins up.
makes sense with a 4 wheeler but I have seen them behind steers too

I think nooteboom make them, if its the ones I see down the dock they split into two.

mal, no, no, no!
they are normal 45 ft psk with 4 axles, with axles 1,2 & 4 lifting, the extra axle means they can run at higher weights in belgium.
someone find the original thread??
