3rd time lucky?

Hey guys, been lurking around this very helpful (yet cynical) forum for a while now thought I better make a post!

Tomorrow, once again I will be taking my cat C test… (A month apart from each other)

So far the first time I failed on being to close to a car turning right into a junction, he left a gap before the line so I thought it was enough to get past…Put that down to lack of experience and judgement, that situation hadn’t come up in training! other than that it was 2 minors!
(The same situation came up in the second test I approached correctly, so I did learn!)

Now the second test, Right at the start I done one of them pull to side malarky, He asked me to go when i was ready I saw a van pull out of a junction quite far behind so the time it would have taken the van to get up to me i would be long ahead, TURNS OUT this was wrong and a Major, he said he doesn’t believe i saw it. Tbh I’m not 100% convinced with that one, But there ya go :stuck_out_tongue:. Least tomorrow I just wont move if anything atall is moving behind me!

Any other tips would be greatly appreciated! As it seems i’ll never hear him say the words I want to hear! :stuck_out_tongue:

so fingers crossed!

Thanks in advance!

Who you calling cynical? :open_mouth:

Welcome pal, and sorry to hear you failed twice, but glad you’re learning from it…

I had a similar experience on pulling away after stopping a little way beyond a junction. And twice I had a car appear just as I went to move off. I got a minor for that, as I could have probably done it better… But I didn’t pull out, and i’ll take the minor ALL DAY LONG!!! :grimacing:

And as you know now, you can’t make another car deviate or brake because of your actions, as this is a major! :imp:

So my advice is don’t take any chances, as you can have up to 16 minors like hesitation before they become a major.

Best of luck pal!

It’s 15 minors before it’s a fail - but who’s counting!

Best of luck with the next test. Pete

Thanks Evil I will certainly be on full concentration tomorrow! Hoping the experiences from the last two tests should help through, Unless I balls up some other way . Hahah i’m sure there’s some of you that are not as cynical! Just doesn’t seem like it

Hope it goes well for you mate. Should do as your learning from your mistakes.

All I would say is my instructor was always saying they want to see you can drive safely, and wait for the road to be clear. I followed his advice and tbh a few times I thought I was going to get a minor for hesitation. I didn’t, I did however get a minor on meeting traffic from not hesitating enuf :unamused:

If your unsure do the safe thing and you should pass today

Answer to the heading of my post… I PASSED absolutely over the moon! Thanks all for wishing me luck. Had a steady head and kept everything nice and smooth. Brilliant, onto bendys! :astonished:

WELL DONE

Congratulations pal, and well done!

Those 2 previous attempts obviously stood you in good stead…

Best of luck with the “Bendys”, or should that be “Bendies”. - Buggered if i know! :open_mouth:

well done

Well don sir!

Priest - How did you get on yesterday?

no luck unfortunately mate, six marks, two of them are serious.

one for planning as i have completely f*d up my independent drive, the other one for stopping not in a really safe place. i realised both mistakes and told about them to the examiner straight away, but that did not save me.

next attempt on Friday

thanks for asking though

how are the things on your end?

Bugger! - I assumed the worst when you didn’t post yesterday…

It sounds like the pressure got to you a bit and you didn’t drive as you probably normally would. I know how that feels, as i got a minor for where i chose to pull over. But after you’ve driven 300+ metres and still can’t see a good place to pull over, the pressure gets to you and you can’t seem to stop yourself from panicking a little and pulling over. Upon reflection, I think I had it in my head that when the examiner told me to find a safe place, i was thinking I’d somehow have to walk back to the exact spot of when the examiner said find a safe place. Stupid I know, but that’s how it felt on the test. Obviously where I pulled up wasn’t too bad, but obviously not where the examiner wanted! So just a minor for me.

As for the independent drive, I also know how you feel, as the moment the examiner said follow signs to ■■■, I just went blank and struggled to kickstart my brain (nobody’s home! :open_mouth:) but managed to struggle through it.

Was that your first attempt? As i’m sure it will stand you in good stead for a second go!

Things are good here pal, got my licence back, got my CV sorted, and working out my plan of attack Monday to knock on doors!

Best of luck on Friday mate, i’m sure it will go better this time around…

cheers
