Starting a new job Monday tramping and have been told I’ve got an inverter in the truck.
I know that its a 3kw one but I am just curious as to know how much of the 3kw is safe to use? Would it be something like 2.5kw? I’m only planning on using it for a 1500w electric stove to start with. Thanks
a 1500 watt kettle or a 1000 watt microwave . Its not what they use it’s the "kick " they need when starting . Most appliances will draw about twice what they normally run on for a few milliseconds at the start and thats what you need to watch for as that overload will damage your inverter.
about 3/4 of its continuous power is safe enough. Usually inverters have a ‘peak power’ rating which is about twice the continuous wattage in order to allow for a spike ij the power consumption like a kettle being switched on. Mine is a 3kw continous rated pure sine wave one. I’ve had a 2kw kettle going, then put a 700w microwave going at same time and it’s been fine. As long as your inverter is rated to 3kw continuous and not peak power you’ll be fine.
