3663 Wakefield

Hi folks,

Not your normal question as I’m not a driver as of yet, and maybe get shot down for asking but wondering if anyone has had experience or spoke to anyone who has working in the transport office of above company?

Cheers

Jonny :sunglasses:

As with any new depot with a completely new setup (staff etc) it’s gonna take some time to iron out any minor issues that they allegedly seem to be having at this particular moment in time

Dealt with goods in A few times Jonny, and as Actrosman says as it’s a new set up there’s a few glitches to start with. The staff I’ve dealt with seem happy enough, but to be fair if the choice is working at 3663 or flipping burgers in X scape I can see why they’d be reasonably content.

Now Bidvest, 3663 has come a long way since it all began in Oldham back in the late 1980’s as Holroyd and Meek.

Eh?? The Bidvest name wasn’t even around at the same time as HM! HM were bought by Booker in (after a bit of digging!) '95. My working life started in '84 with UYC (United Yeast Co) who were part of The Distillers Company Food Group Svcs(DCL FGS). The food side got sold off when Guinness purchased it and has changed its name many times since…UYC got bought by Fitch & Son, they got bought by Booker (so carried the name Booker Fitch for a while), then it changed to Booker Foodservice to 3663, which is owned by Bidvest…Bidvest & 3663 are the same company doing different ‘work’…they do Pizza Hut, KFC and all the big contracts whereas 3663 do the pubs/schools and everything else and as correctly pointed out, it is now Bidvest3663…which apparently, as it’s a ‘new’ company, has put us lowest of the low on the VOSA list! Think that’s right but may have missed something out!

And their wash aint working!

Moaster…they’re lucky…we ain’t got one at ours!

The parasites, sorry “employment agencies” are always advertising for drivers out of Banbury and the new Bicester site (opposite Fresh Direct). £30k+ a year if they’re telling the truth.

Last time I saw an ad by bidvest they were offering 32k. Must have full dcpc.

Cheers for the replies folks, they had a couple vacancies for transport office jobs more money and closer to home  will see.

Cheers

Bloke left our place to work on the class 2’s at there Cannock depot. I don’t know how much he takes home but he said its a good wage and better money than what he was on at our place, he used to work weekends which paid premium rate and now he only works monday-friday at 3663 and takes home more.

Presume its usual multi-drop work with x amount of drops per day, presumably being food work a fair few.

Another fella out our place his brother works there and says they get work related bonuses (don’t know how true this is)

They used to have a depot at brown hills but now are based at a new depot in cannock

H+M got bought out by Booker, Booker then sold part of the company to 3663 (A South African company). 3663 was made up at that time by the parent company, Bidvest. They have also bought out a couple of other companies and brought them into the group brand.
In the past 5 years or so they have divided the group into 2 divisions, Bidvest Logistics and 3663. I dont know why, whether is to divide contracts, and more recently 3663 has had a rebrand to Bidvest3663.

The job at Wakefield is still in early stages and are having some glitches and issues, some of the management and office have gone over from Salford.
Food multi drop, couldnt tell you about the wage.

At the time, 3663 were known as Booker (yep, the same as Booker Cash & Carry)… ‘We’ bought Happy Shopper (can’t remember the exact name but they had a big gaff in Didcot, had the orange FL10s/trailers). After breaking up the Booker brand, we ‘had’ to change our name as the Booker brand was still in use, as it is today, and some bod came up with the 3663 name. The company was broken up again and this is when Bidvest came into play…they purchased the bit ‘we’ didn’t want as it wasn’t making a massive profit, and so Bidvest became a common sight on the roads and as pointed out, will be changing again soon! The Bidvest group is absolutely huge (global) and the top man is proper minted…we own a lot of companies and some of you may be working for us without knowing it…the list is pretty much endless and would make most others look like one man bands!

Truckerjames123… I run up there at night and have seen the loads that go on the trucks…all I can say is I’m glad I shipped to another depot for the easy life! Some of those loads are scary…wasn’t him who had the ‘load’ of Coca Cola on was it? :open_mouth: and tell him, when the hub is late, it’s not my fault, I’m just the driver, not a picker although all the bloody road closures don’t help my case!

Muckaway…I know most of the lads at Bicester as I’m ex Abingdon and I’ll ask about the money but 30k is a few K lower than what I heard they were getting as the wages had to meet in the middle as the Northampton lads (who move in soon) were earning some ■■■■ good money and if I told you how much, you wouldn’t believe me!!

Well when he left our place i did say he would be going into harder job with a bit more work, i presume they can do a lot of handball work

Most of its handball but it is on the back of the wagon in cages!! Is he an early starter? Rolls up at the gate at 3:30 to get let in at 4 :unamused: If so, he’d have been well chuffed to see me pulling out the gate at 4:05…I never turned up till 3:10, truck packed up last night, computer said no and it didn’t wanna go…fitter said it was showing up a code that said the turbo had gone and so cut most of the power…I sat on the A339 into Newbury for 2 hours waiting for someone to turn up…subbie came out, had a poke and a prod then lifted the cab…it was after all the sounds of bending plastic etc that he realised he should’ve lifted the grill…needless to say they will be getting a bill for a new front!
