32 hours from class 1 to 2 would prepare u for this!

I clicked on the link and ended up with this?

Is this the right video?

I think he did fairly well given what he had to work with. Digit, buddy, you’re not really in a position to highlight other drivers abilities, given that you took an easy way out when it came to passing your test.

I passed in manuals, and I struggle sometimes with the automatic artics. When in chemical plants, and I have to slalom reverse round corners and onto points, on an angle, with plants ops stood there watching you like they’ve never seen a truck before. It can be nerve wracking, especially as a new driver, but with practice comes experience. I wouldn’t say that Aldi driver was a noob, given the circumstances, a long in the tooth pro could have struggled with that. It was a busy, tight little spot, that really didn’t look like it was built to facilitate a full size artic. I know for a fact I’d of struggled with that.

Cut the man some slack.

So my question is would 32 or even 40hrs behind with a trainer prepare you for this

The question is…what would you do?
it’situations like this that sort the men from the boys.
Well done to the lad,for squaring up to the pressure…and overcoming a challenging situation.
Some people just crumble and take the easy option :bulb:

Dam this guy is my hero. well done.

I’ve been driving a 26tonner for work. I’m slowly becoming more at home with it. Learning the vehicle. Its not something you can just pick up and run it with it.

Michael Douglas:
It looked like a [zb] area to reverse down being so tight. If I was that guy I’d be chuffed to have made it out without damaging anything in such a narrow area. Especially not losing his cool having some tool filming him, thinking it’s a comedy sketch! That guy probably couldn’t reverse a car around there!

It is a crap area to load/unload in. I used to love a few streets away from that Lidl. There was also bikes parked on that corner.

I watched the video and I have nothing but sympathy for the poor guy. A really difficult situation in a busy street, with hundreds of people watching, and a bell end with a camera phone too.

All credit to this chap for getting out in one piece, no damage, and dignity intact. I’d like to hope that is what I would have done in the same situation, I fear I would have gone to pieces a bit.

No driver should ever take the mick out of another who finds themselves in a difficult situation. We’ve either been there and sweated through it ourselves, or we have just been lucky so far. Anyone who has driven Class 1 will know how tough it can be, show some respect for anyone else who has had the nerve and skill to get their Class 1 licence too.

I take my hat off to this man, and anyone else like him…

this person who stood there and recorded this poor bloke needs a hard slap!!

I thought he kept his cool rather well. We all have to start somewhere. I’m bloody hopeless. Can’t blindside to save my life. But I’ve only been on class 1 for four weeks, and I’ve hit nothing, not even clipped a mirror. It gets where it’s supposed to be eventually, and it’s taking less shunts by the day. I’m not beating myself up over it. I’m actually better than I thought I would be. Trainer bloke at our place thinks I’m spot on.

For anyone else on here that’s a bit nervous about taking the jump. Go for it. In the big old scheme of things, we don’t spend all that much time going backwards. Use your eyes, your mirrors, and if you’re losing the plot, get out and use your legs.

And never be afraid to ask for help

Watched the video. The guy has done great to move the bl**dy monster well despite being watched and filmed like that.

I think he probably went there with little to no experience, but sure what he learned there is a lot more than most “experienced lorry drivers” have. Sure next time he comes there, all those ■■■■■■ filming will be scratching their heads with nothing to film as he won’t make that mistake no more.

Treat it this way: The cop was an examiner doing his first job ever and the driver just passed his extended artic test!

Yeah he did well but still I’m just showing the hardest thing that could happen to us newbs

You wish…

There’s plenty harder than that out there. Just when you think you’ve had it as tough as it gets life will rear up and bit you on the bottom with something tougher. I’m just hoping it all happens to other drivers and I continue to get it relatively easy. I had my toughest moment yet in a tight little depot in Battersea at the weekend. Thankfully it was midnight so there was no-one around to watch my efforts, and I got it in eventually. Afterwards I felt it was a bit of a ‘coming of age’ as it was my toughest assignment yet and I managed to get through it okay.
