Have I been dreaming but we have been told the country is broke so where is the 32 billion to build this rail line that will cut 13 minutes off the journey to London from Birmingham…lyers cheats.
More borrowing I suspect.
But then it will be recouped when so many people want to save 13 minutes off their journey time. Won’t it…■■
32 billion?
Not bad, put me down for three.
I thought it was 40 minutes, in which case it’s superb value…
Isn’t it quicker by plane?
p.s. why am I waiting 2 years for a hospital appointment if 32 billion £££ is available so people can get to the ‘black’ country 30mins quicker?

Most of it is coming from the revenue generated by the DCPC. How good is that, all us so-called professionals doing our but for the country. The respect we will gain will be immeasurable, we will have garlands placed on our heads and petals strewn at our feet as we walk.
Mind you someone will still complain about hay fever from the flowers.
If it’s anything like the Olympics, the final figure will be considerably more. The Olympics were 40% over budget (so far), so if the railway goes 20% over budget that will be an extra £6.4 billion. For what? getting to Birmingham a bit quicker? who want’s to go to Birmingham?
Tiger.

Oh come on guys, think of Muckaway, he’ll be in a job for a few years carting the crap away from the new tunnels.
It may even keep him out of roadworks and from behind the “control” vehicles
I think it’s totally insane

Sell them your Birmingham Early Arrivals idea for the station name, they’ve obviously got money to burn and you could get a few quid for you and Bertie to enjoy.

Me too That projects going to need a few loads of cement
On big projects IE; Heathrow T5 , we sent a large amount by rail , but it could prove tricky trying to rail the HS2 cement in

Cheap at half the price. Which has always struck me as a daft saying.
How many of those billions will go to risk assessors and Health and Safety bods then there is security staff all busily hoovering up the cash pile.If there is any left we could have some excavator drivers and plate layers but not many.My Collie is black and brown with two little white patches.I call her Birmingham.

Bertie says he’s going to buy himself a crown and a seat in the House of Lords with his share.

It’s just the big rail industry interests wrecking the countryside and using taxapayers cash to provide some extra room on the existing tracks to take freight off the road and put it on their trains for some extra profit.
Hopefully a lot of those who’s houses are now blighted with zb valuations and who are complaining about the countryside being torn up will also be a lot of those who’ve been shouting for increased rail capacity and getting freight off the road onto rail.
