Just delivered 29 Pallets and a further 3 on a second order to DHL/Range at Thorne, Doncaster. After being tipped, they’ve put the second ordered 3 Pallets back on because they are not due till the 9th of May. Absolutely unbelievable in a massive warehouse. I despair sometimes at the management of these places, the wasted time and cost of this. Next month they’ll be wondering how they can save money.
Does it perhaps have more to do with the fact if they deliver them earlier than arranged, then they will have to be paid for earlier?? Most firms use the end of the month as a cut off point for invoicing.
I had the same thing at Screwfix Stoke last week (they’re always a ballache). Had two notes, one for 8 pallets and one for 13. When I booked in, I was told “we only want the 8, coz the 13 isn’t booked in til tomorrow”. My reply was “I ain’t on sale or return, it’s all or ■■■■ all - your choice!”
2 hours later, they took all
I can see both sides. If you’re booked in on 8th May how is reasonable to deliver it a week and a half early?
If you ordered some furniture for home and you couldn’t accept delivery because you’d nowhere to put it because you were decorating, Argos turn up a week early and say, " well I’m here now mate, have it now or do without"
99% will tell driver/Argos to shove their furniture up their Derriere! I would, so why is it any different for Screwfix/ DHL/(any other rdc)
The next bloody day?!? I was booked in for 16:00, so it nearly WAS the next sodding day
I think it is the invoice thing as they’re always 30 days end of month, or whatever. Can they not take delivery though and the supplier send a forward dated invoice so everyone wins a bit, or is that a no, no?
Any accountants on here?

So if it was ONLY tomorrow then what would your reply if Screwfix had said, “we’ll only take this delivery tomorrow and you’ll have to wait”
Don’t answer that mate, i already know the answer.
Would have been dropped in their yard mate. We’ve done it before. I’d have bobtailed up to Congleton to pick up a trailer and got on with a paying load. Simples
