Ps it was nice truck to drive volvo ishift well smart

. Thanks… Gordon :frowning:

I peg your bardon?

Have you no respect for yourself?

I’d imagine that this agency will want to work you hard (till Xmas), I bet they’ve spent the whole day arranging your next free training session.

No it isn’t normal, it never has been for normal jobs but was the case years ago if you wanted to get into car transporters and didn’t have a family route into one of the big properly unioned players, however it was usually worth it in the long run as the pay differentials for specialist work was massive.

You sometimes start a job on reduced rate until you’re provisional period (usually 13 weeks is up), but you shouldn’t be working a normal job for free.

If there’s anything else about i’d tell 'em to stuff it and my gut feeling is to do exactly that, but only you know your circumstances and whether you think you can trust these swine that there really is an ongoing job once you’ve given them the free work, follow your instincts here.

Forget the truck it’s pay you work for, don’t matter if it’s a wheelbarrow.

It’s normal that an agency will try to screw you yes. Ask them how long they worked at the agency before they were considered up to speed & got paid for their time. Tell them you want paying or move on, life is too short to work for nothing. You are not a charity.

Be interesting to find out how much the agency are invoicing the firm for the 3days your doing !! Sure as ■■■ they won’t be giving your services for free !!

Of course you should be paid , don’t take their bull crap , Christ , I’ve just done two days training 100 miles from home for a new job I started this week, I will be paid two dull days pay plus reimburse for fuel & over night accommodation …

 such a wind up. We saw your thread the other day you ■■■■■.

Why do drivers put up with this ■■■■? Agency staff are commonly used in all sorts of office and warehouse work and you don’t see workers there doing unpaid “training” while they “get up to speed” or “learn the ropes”.

Well, as long as you got paid; next day might be more interesting.

If you do decide to do it

  1. Tell the agency you wont get your time sheet signed for the 3 days.
  2. Let Spar know how you are being treated by the agency.
  3. Just a thought,Are you a slow learner?

Some very good points raised in response to the op’s statement, and if I were the op, I would seriously take them on board, and FAST.

Are you some kind of brain dead zombie? (No offence.)

The agency want you to work for 3 days foc?

Listen man, grow a pair, and tell them to ■■■■ off. There are plenty of agencies out there, and as we are on the run to crimbo, you should have no problem finding an agency that will treat you with a small amount of respect, and not treat you as a cash cow.

As for the truck…well unless your a 21 year old newbie, it’s a tool to do your job with and nothing else.

Oh, and in case your wondering, I’ve been an agency driver for 8 years and never been asked to work for 3 days for nowt.

Yes you did do it, after 8 1/2 hours. Would have been more effective at the start of the day IMHO.

Don’t forget to tell the agency you want paying for those 8hrs

er come down here an i’ll let you drive this W&D for a week FREE

Half a day maybe … a whole day and I want some wongga 3 days I want paying …

Actually I am onto something here, as at the moment I cannot drive for a living, but there seems to be people who will do it for nothing, so I can get the job and they can drive the lorry for me. Now that’s a bonus

They can also get all the fines, penalty points and aggravation from the customer :stuck_out_tongue:
