3,2,1 and come off the motorway!

some numpties seem to think the 3,2,1 marker boards are to tell them which lane they should be in as they exit the motorway. lane 3 at the 3 marker… lane 2 at the 2 marker etc…
and indicators■■? well, I know where I’m going… !!!

lol

It’s generally BMW drivers that offend the most frequently. I think you need to be missing certain brain cells and have a very small ■■■■■ to own a BMW.

I own 2

whats your point

On a motorway I’ll indicate at the 300 yrd marker and I’ll stay in lane from about 1 mile away. But on a dual carriageway if I think I have to slow down on the carriageway I’ll indicate from about a mile and lose speed slowly.

I will only indicate when it is of use to another driver. As for other drivers it doesnt bother me whether they indicate or not as i’ve already made the decision about what am gonna do. You can usually anticipate what other drivers will do through the speed and language of the car plus which zone they are in relating to distance away from me on all sides, so i adjust my driving to suit. It’s just what i’ve always thought drivings about.

Whats the point of indicating from the 300 yard marker? The only time I indicate before the 100 yard marker is if it looks like I will need to slow down before I am completely off the motorway eg congestion on the slip road, or a very short tight slip road.

I was thinking exactly that, especially for someone indicating one mile before. If I saw that I would be convinced that they had left their indicator on and probably wore driving gloves and a hat.

Do they still teach Mirror, Signal, Manoeuvre? No-one expects you look in the mirror at one mile before a junction, so why would you indicate that early.

I do understand the reason for checking mirrors at seven or eight second intervals but excessive time with the indicators can only serve to confuse.

If you were driving down the A1 and there was a farm entrance and a road junction close together, you wouldn’t indicate before the farm entrance would you?

Loads of great replies thanks. I guess I just like to let the poor bugger stuck behind me know that I am pulling off the motorway so they can have that bit of extra infomation, judging by some of the answers here I guess I think about other people too much?

What about when you are at the lights, they are on red, two lanes going forward and the outside lane is for straight on or turn right. Massive queue in the nearside lane and only one motor in the outside, no indicator. You think “I will get behind him” The lights turn green and bang on goes the [nb]'s indicator! AAARRRGGGHHHH!!! :imp: :imp: Toooo annoying!

Does anyone do that?

I take up both lanes just in case :grimacing: .

If theres traffic behind me i’ll indicate at 100yd mark, if not then i dont bother. Got fed up with cars and sometimes even lorries using my early indication to their advantage by overtaking and cutting in front at the last minute
