stopped driving 27 years ago, am now 53 and thinking of making comeback, whats the current situation out there?
it’s dire. work is hard to come by depending on where you live, law, legislation etc is a night mate…elf&safety gone made, like unbelievably mad! i’m sure someone else will go into more detail but in a sentence or two that’s what it’s like…
still love it though.
moneys not as good as you was on then.
As Sam said, depending on where you live, jobs can be hard to come by. If you do apply for jobs, you’ll most likely be joined by ten’s of others going for the same.
On the other hand, you could be in right place at right time. People say money is’nt good at moment. I personally only experianced that issue when i did a bit of agency work when it was dribs and drabs. I’ve found once in a full time job, the money seems fairly decent tbh.

Stopped■■? You hardly started!
It’s not brilliant but much depends on where you are and what you want?
I came back to driving after a somewhat shorter break, 18yrs, and found things OK.
Somethings have changed…
Not seen a blue airline recently
That big under trailor lever that was the brake is now a button
Auto boxes
Digi tachos
Lots of RDC work
A lot less roping and sheeting
Money is generally not to good, I tend to work nights and/or weekends which suits me as I can happily live on three shifts a week
Just remember all those mistakes you made years ago, and don’t make them again. Take it easy and don’t get get stressed out about what you hear or read on this forum. Lots of VERY good advice, but also some that will paint a picture of doom and despondency at every chance.
