Hi all, im getting a bit cheesed off with burning CD’s for the truck etc… and was wondering if anyone knows where i can find a 24volt cd/mp3 player? I’ve searched the web and going round in circles unfortunatly.
I’ve got a new Stralis so would be ncie if i could keep the steering controls, but not toooo important if a good stereo is available.
Just wondering if they exist… and can anyone help throw some light onto it for me please! Would be grateful, as im used to the mp3 player in the car, i can just wack 300 odd tunes on and thats it then for a long while!
Thanks all
Stu
If you manage to find one, I’d love to know, as I’m looking for one too.
I’m tempted by the VDO Dayton CD5326X-24V, but I don’t know how much it is yet.
biggusdickusgb got there first…
Hmm. EUR245 on one site I’ve found (in Spanish), EUR200(ish) on eBay Spain…
Looks like an expensive proposition.
Maybe an MP3 player with an FM transmitter might be a better idea.
Well I picked a couple of gadgets up last time I was at the wholsalers and forgot about them until I saw this post
Basically your MP3 Player plugs into it and it plays through your Car / Truck Radio
It connects to the Car Radio via the Antenna i.e Antenna plugs into the black box and the black box plugs into the Car Radio Antenna Socket.
I’ll dig them out tomorrow and put the full details up if anyones interested, Brand New and boxed I’ll take £12 each including Postage

That’s basically like the FM transmitter I suggested (although if you get a transmitter then you don’t have to play about with the antenna wiring).
However, have you actually tried using one of yours, Davey?
The quality of these devices can be very variable. I bought one from Halfords last year, and it’s crap. There’s virtually no bass or high-frequency response, it’s nearly all treble. Frankly, I’d rather be in silence than listen to the awful noise it creates.
I’m not necessarily suggesting that the ones you’ve got are bad, but have you tried one?
I tried a wireless one a couple of years ago and it was useless, I bought one like this off ebay and had no problem.
Not wishing to appear stupid (thou i very often do!) but isn’t the radio/cd player in your truck already 12v?? I only say this cos it is in a ovlov .Wouldn’t know with the merc i ain’t had the “pleasure”?
wouldn`t it be cheaper to get a 2nd hand 12v unit, and wire a dropper in the curcuit?
Unless your boss is willing to pay for the FARKLE

back to being stupid i’m afraid
he’s got a stralis, nobody has mentioned ovlov and merc
Thanks for the replies! what to do what to do lol!
Well i know there is a 12v iso connector behind there as i have my kenwood tape player in (i have a crap load of audio books on tape, and this way is easier)
Although that VDO one looks the jobby, in fact, its the same style as the radio in the truck already, just with “Iveco” stamped on it
And theres me thinking what are they talking about…just got me radio out from the repair shop, had to have 2 new valves…and thats after i had to have a new handle fitted on me gramaphone…oh this modern technology…

No Mate in all honesty I picked 2 up with the intentions of sticking them on my online shop and forgot about them until I saw this thread yesterday.
I’ll tell ya what though, how about I donate 1 for someone to try if they are happy to donate the £3 postage to the McMillan Nurse Charity I’ll take them on trust to drop it in the collection box.
The first to PM me their address and I’ll send one out (Only request it if your going to try it and give your opinion in this thread within 14 days
They can then give their full unbiased opinion on them
I would’nt care I just fitted a New Radio into my car last week and had to repair the arial lead hence the reason I’m not going to try and fit it in the car to try out.
The same System was selling in Argos Last Year but I dont know if they still sell them now.

Lmfao!! I guess thats what they used to mean at school by “must pay more attention in class”!! Hmm what I was trying to say was aren’t all truck radios 12v and if so why not just go down too your local audio shop for a new radio? (or is it back to the corner time for me again)?
