Hi team
Just a quick one I am entering the realms of tramping and am just wondering if any of you have any ideas how much power a 24 volt oven grill combi will zap out of my battery
. I dont want to do cafe food all the time
. Also I am looking at a laptop for my evening veiwing, TV etc do they eat the battery too?? Any assistance would be appreciated i know gas cookers are frowned on so am looking into other methods. Cheers team and safe travels.
They are crap get yourself a big inverter off eBay and buy a cheap microwave from tesco or similar type supermarket, much better off than buying one of those.
Hi
Ok cheers for the reply so what about inverters do they eat my battery??
If you get one what I normally do is run the engine whilst using the microwave, get your mechanics to run an Anderson lead direct to the battery into your cab so it won’t drain your battery at all,you need a 1500w inverter or higher, they ain’t cheap but well worth it if your away alot.
I have a 2000W inverter in my truck, you can leave it on all the time if you wish it won’t kill youre battery’s, the only reason i dont leave the inverter on all the time is because it interfers with the cb. £150 for the inverter & £38 for the 700W microwave from tesco’s. happy days
Hi, thanks for all the tips i am driving car transporters so room is a minimum so maybe a micro is a bit large but will look for a smaller one maybe â– â–

How does it not drain your battery?
The reason I ask is I know nothing on electrics and have been wondering howi can fit an inverter to run all my bits off.
I have a 1500w inverter for my microwave, kettle and sandwich maker also a 300w one for charging my phones,iPad and other assorted stuff, with a 4 way extension socket, when using the higher wattage stuff I always run the engine whilst using them and it doesn’t drain the batteries at all.
When using the 300w one I don’t bother as you don’t need to.

It will drain your battery unless you run the engine whilst using the microwave and keep them charged up. Don’t run a microwave via an inverter without running the engine or you may well have problems.
Low power appliances such as phone chargers etc. will be OK and probably the TV if you have one. But a microwave consumes a fair bit of power.
