24/7 greasy spoons

Does anybody know any 24/7 greasy spoon cafes up and down the country? M1, M6, M25, M4… all the main corridors etc.

I know a couple - one near east midlands airport, and another off J35a of the M1. Also, I’m sure I ate at one in 2005 not far off J12 of the M6 (not the Hollies). There must be more though.

The one at East Midlands airport has been closed while they rework the road ready for the rail terminal although there was somebody in it last week doing some work so may well be getting ready to reopen again.

The last 24/7 greasy spoon I visited was Friar Tucks, on the north bound A1 just after the A614 roundabout, mysteriously burned down just before the A1 was rebuilt and became the A1M, was one of the best breakfasts on the road at that time.

Donkeys on the Welshpool road is still 24/7,last time I stopped I just went for a packet of polos in the end…didn’t quite fancy a sandwich and a share of the dirt from under the guys fingernails who was cooking the food, dirty rat.

There’s one on the M1/A61 junction (Sheffield) . Not the one actually on the A61, opposite the weigh station, but on the link road from the Tankersley roundabout to the M1 southbound.
You come off the motorway ascended head for Sheffield on the A61, past the part time cafe on the left, past Tankersley manor hotel and take a left at the big roundabout. It’s on your right, about 500yds down.
Last time I went, it was knocked down, but it looked like they were rebuilding it into something more substantial.
It’s just a parking layby, so space is very limited, but it is a good feed, or was.

If a place has a rep for being a greasy spoon, why stop there? :arrow_right: :arrow_right: :arrow_right: :arrow_right: :arrow_right:
