2015/16 sat nav`s

sorry its another sat nav question! more of an update really as ive read a lot of posts already but they are a bit old now. I have bought myself a road atlas but I intend to buy a truck sat nav. As im a newbie I would rarther invest in the best one available, I have read some issues regarding the garmin/tomtoms although as far as I can see they are still regarded the best available. I just wanted to know whats the latest any particular new model better or even worse?? is it worth buying an older tomtom for example if the latest got worse? I have used tomtom for the car and the motorbike and not really had many issues. I never fully trust them but they to me are a tool. I like the idea of the garmin apprently they have photo real junctions/exits ect. Also live traffic would be useful although never bothered with it in the past. So anything new out there or anything coming out soon worth waiting for■■? Im going to wait till I have got a Job but if something pops up in the January sales it might be woth a looksie

I’ve got the garmin dezl 770 the newest one and I think it’s really good the only thing that does me head in with it is it hasn’t been updated to the new speed limits yet it’s says 40 when should be 50 but that should be fixed in a update but apart from that it’s a great peace of kit

thats the one I fancy I think, its has some good reviews. I hav heard of that issue though buy yeah should be sorted with an update.

I’d defo go for it mine was brill yesterday really is a good bit of kit u wont be disappointed

will keep an eye on prices for January sales. currently they look to be going for £315 ish

That’s cheap I paid 370 2 months ago

thats on ebay but not sure if ill buy from there. I dont mind ebay but I found out if you buy a mobile phone off there you will struggle to get insurance for it if bought of an auction site apparently so dont want to run the same risk with the sat nav. Might get it of amazon then see if i can get it put on the home insurance might be worth it for the cost!!

I got one from the truck tables website £66 delivered iirc it’s been absolutely bloody brilliant, better than my tomtom and I’ve had tomtoms since the GO 300 came out about 8 years ago!
Just because it’s expensive doesn’t automatically mean it’s good, the HGV element of any sat nav is nothing more than a computer programme ,my advice would be to get one like I’ve had you won’t regret it and you’ll be £250 richer!

Price don’t bother me but I will say it’s a really good sat nav free map updates for life and.live traffic for life and just all the other quirky things it does I really like it

I will take a look first. I do fancy the Garmin but worth taking a look at all options cheers

I have the snooper not let me down yet does what it says on the tin. A solid piece of kit

Why spend so much on a sat nav when you can your smartphone can provide the same functions

Just buy a basic car one. 5 inch screen helps in a truck an lifetime map updates. Use your eyes an low bridges or crap lanes wont be an issue.

If your job is in the same few counties you will find after a few months you wont need it. So no point wasting loads on one.

I got a garmin dezl 560 last year. It’s brilliant.

I just have never updated it though haha

Check this thread out great sat nav I currently use and many others use. viewtopic.php?f=5&t=128456

If won’t include truck specific features like support of weight limits or truck bans out of the box. There is an app called NavTruck available for IOS or Android but it’s £80 for the app!

There’s afew actually such as aponia sygic copilot to name a few all much cheaper that a pnd or dedicated unit and all store the maps on the phone and give yearly or quarterly updates

The topic I have linked is a pro drive sat nav which runs a choice of 3 different software’s and maps so you have a choice the only thing it doesn’t have is live traffic update but for £70 who can complain?!

theres a new PD8 version out now! not sure of the difference but i`m tempted to give this a shout since it comes with a 30 day money back guarantee!
had good reviews on Amazon for the PD7 version only issue was someone struggled with the update procedure but no one else seemed to have an issue so maybe someone whos not good with things like this  latest version is a tenner more though!
