2013 Volvo FH Electrics

Hello all,
I have just got a new (not new version !) FH last week. Came out of a R series and boy what a change, the top of my head is in bits, big difference in room. Anyway, I took my 24v kettle with me from the scania and plugged it in to the 24v outlet on the dash of the volvo, Bang !!, fuse blown. Turns out its a 10amp fuse. For the fun I tries the cig lighter, Bang, fuse blown, its also 10 amp.
I never had a problem in the scania, 24v outlet runs up to 300 watts.
Can anyone tell me if can I do a “little modification” to get the kettle to boil, Its a good kettle, €45 in Meer truckstop. Dont want to resort to gas. I also dont want to start running wires from the battery.
Would a higher fuse do it or maybe a higher rated socket ■■. Very unhappy now as my milk will soon be out of date in the fridge before I get to use it !!!

Thanks
J

The fuse is there to protect the wiring. Unless you know the wire will cope (and sometimes it may do), I would never just fit a bigger fuse or next time it might be the wiring that melts/catches fire.

You may need to get a sparky to have a look at it for you. Watts are amps multiplied by volts so anything much above 240W and you have an issue.you are obviously able to pull less current on your Volvo. Out of interest, was the fuse on the Scania 15A?

Thanks for that,
Never needed to look at the fuse in the scania but I think it was a 20amp.
I know the Waeco Kettle at 24v runs at 380 watts so I may be out of luck.
