2003 LF 45 gear linkage

Gear lever feels like its waving around mid air, I’ve had the cab up and down a few times but always ensured it was in neutral. However it popped out while the cab is down and no amount of re-seating and moving the stick about as per the instructions is clipping it back in.

And hints or places I should look for something which has failed? Looks to be all still connected when the cab is up.

Has the ball come out of the socket on the bottom of the gear lever, you might need to tilt cab to see it unless you can lift lever up from inside ■■

Check the steady rod at the gearbox end, the pinch bolt on the gearbox operating lever and the linkage ball joints.

Thanks all, will check all that out.

If you have a 5 speed box ,have you broken the gearbox turret ■■? Generally happens then the gearlinkage doesn’t delatch, and the cab won’t tilt until you pump it like a man possessed then bang it tilts at the expense of the turret

had it on an XF where the linkage snapped, gearstick was moving around as described

Check the locking pin on the gearlinkage under the cab is not seized it works on a cam system
