2 reduced rests same week - can you payback on the 2nd

If i have 2 reduced rests in the same fixed week - can i use the 2nd as pay back for the 1st ?

In my logic the 2nd 24 hour reduced is used to enable you to start your next 6off 24 hour working periods… if you were to use this to pay back your reduced rest - then surley you would need a rest of 45 hours to pay back your reduction en bloc… else you would be only paying back by adding the compensation onto a daily rest period so therefore your still in the same driver week of 6off 24 hours ■■

Yes the second can be … but …

If it is needed to stop more than 144 hours being done between weekly rests then the first 24 hours of the second must be used for the weekly rest but all hours over 24 can be used for payback

If the second is not required to stop 144 hours between weekly rests being done then the 24+ hours off can be used, not as a weekly rest, but as a daily rest with the hours over the daily rest requirement used as payback

If a weekly rest has already been assigned as the weekly rest for a fixed week then any others done in the same fixed week will not require payback

but don’t that have to be attaced to a full weekly rest rog ■■

Payback for a reduced weekly rest can be added to any rest period be it a reduced or full daily or weekly rest

Perhaps doing one of my senarios might help a little

All the shifts are 13 hours from 6am to 7pm
… fri + sat off = full weekly rest and there is no payback owing at this point
sun mon tue = work
wed off = reduced weekly rest of 35 hours (A)
thu + fri = work
sat off = reduced weekly rest of 35 hours (B)
sun mon tue wed thu = work
fri + sat off = full weekly rest

Assigning (A) to be the weekly rest for that week leaves (B)
(A) needs 10 hours of payback
(B) is not assigned to be the weekly rest for that week so does not need paying back
(B) must be a weekly rest to stop more than 6x24 hour periods (144 hours) being done between weekly rests
(B) only needs to be 24 hours so that leaves 11 hours spare
The 11 spare hours from (B) can be used for the payback of 10 hours from (A)

Wow! Had to read that a few times at ‘wheely aged 5’ speed to understand and digest that! Good info.

I wrote it as simple as I could but I think to do it any other way might have missed out important info

Rog - are you sure that the 2nd reduced weekly rest does not need paying back ?

Jenson Button:
Rog - are you sure that the 2nd reduced weekly rest does not need paying back ?

100% yes

A reduced weekly rest that has not been used as THE weekly rest for any fixed week does not need paying back

The idea for paying back is to ‘make up’ the shortfall if the wekly rest is less then 45 hours

As only one weekly rest is required for a fixed week then the payback is only needed from one if there is more than one

There might be a better way of putting that but its all I can come up with at the moment
