Lmao  ^^

Well it’s an induction so you’ll just be shown around, read through all the company policies and sign, shown how things work etc. just what you’d expect from an induction.

Take a clothes peg for your nose cos widnes stinks

Somebody told me stobarts charge you to do an induction but you get dcpc hours out it, valuable hours where you learn how to tuck curtain straps in etc

It counts as 14 hours towards your Cpc,they put you up in the premier inn at Preston brook and no,they don’t charge you for it.

That reminds me, some years back my missus said to me “Kiss me where it smells”
So I took her to Grimsby, she wasn’t happy.

did the induction beginning september 2 day course long days depending where ur based,
day 1, went to chesterfield depot for 5am for a 7.45 start at widnes, did all the intros yes you sign a piece of paper basically it is 2 days 14 hrs towards your cpc but its a case of if you leave within a certain time then they will get something back from you which is a fair deal, you get your uniform which you out on straight away, go through everything stobart lol lorry checks, drivers hours, reporting accidents , deliverys, manual handling , coupling and split coupling, tachos and safe systems of work the job lot to be fair i enjoyed the course and learnt a lot, we finished day 1 bout 6pm checked into premier inn widnes opp tescos and had a good meal in brewers fayre, day 2 started again 7.45, and we arrived back in chesterfield 8pm in the car hired for us, trust me its a very enjoyable course, mike who took the course was spot on had a good laugh and the staff there very friendly, the academy is near tesco widnes but not on that road its round the back off the next junction. food and drink is provided and spot on too may i add!!!

Why do you need to do two days training? First driving job?

its 2 days towards cpc (14hr) as well as induction, thats why bud.

What happens if you dont tuck the straps on the buckles away, so there just flapping about in the wind? Warning, sack etc?

lol its more of a tidy thing they show you all that… tbh i do see various wagons with flappy straps etc and they do look an eyesore so can understand why they lie it to be neat, thats what they want from there drivers so i abide by it, they make the ruoes i stick by them and il be fine then

Like worksopboy said, he who pays the piper calls the tune! I personally have no issue with their tune, but those who do don’t have to come to the dance.

Incidentally, they also sell the stowage of strap ends issue on the grouds it stops the strap wearing against the buckle.

Sure, some of the input on the induction may appear to be teaching your grandmother to ■■■■ eggs but that can be said for most CPC input. Having said that, I was staggered at the level of ignorance amongst some on my induction in respect of drivers hours, and these were drivers with years of experience under their belts. So clearly, even the most experienced in our ranks never stop learning.

I did the 2 day induction at Appleton a long time before dCPC and it was still 2 days.

Teach you all the usual crap including coupling, uncoupling, vehicle checks, paperwork etc.

Not bad, free food etc. And, as others have said, Mike who’s been taking the course for years, is a good egg tbh

Stobarts have obviously got the training pretty spot on with the positive comments from you lot.

To be fair i think they have got it spot on theres only one reason i havent applied and thats the hourly rate other than that i would give them a go

i was going to say theres a new premier inn at widnes so they would probably pu you in there. the tescos is amazing and also u got the cinema and megabowl next door

Good course, thoroughly enjoyable!

Yep I did course in april, long days but very intense but informative, free food which is good, Yep day rate is crap But you get fuel and other rates too, but there is a treat to brighten the day, the long black haired girl who came in to take pics for ID badge " she’s a babe"

If I’m honest (and I’m no driver), they sound like a good company to work for. The brother inlaw works in the admin office at the warrington depot (hawleys lane), he says some of the drivers are complete nobbers. In that respect there are some good uns too. Wouldn’t put me off working for them though if I got the chance.

Edit - admin office for the warehouse.
