I don’t know the area but if a thousand people a month are ignoring the signs it begs the question “are the signs good enough” ?

If it’s raised £2 million, then I’d say the signs are perfectly adequate!! Just another way of milking the motorist.

Aha,…
People in Leicester are not able to follow Rules and Regulations?

The signs are more than good enough, its the drivers that get caught arn’t good enough!
The sign is clear in that pic, pity the driver’s eyes are not in the Scenic…

Because of moaning scousers and big red tarmaced, clear signage bus lanes must of been too confusing, the city council have abolished all bus lanes here in Liverpool.either that or they have been nicked…

Better send our local reporter out to check on this story…

Over to you Rog

Sign looks perfectly fine to me. Clearly says bus and cycle only. If I saw that I would not drive a car down there.
If a camera making £2,000,000 bothers people heres a thought
STOP DRIVING THROUGH THE BUS LANE

If your convinced that cameras are just there as a cash cow then remember that a camera wont snap you if you are not in the wrong. And while it may sometimes, not 2 million quids worth.

Either it will or it won’t which is it

I thought the end quote, and the use of the word sometimes, would have cleared that up. Sometimes a camera will snap wrongly but very occasionally. That’s what the appeals process is for. I only said that to cover myself against the usual “it snapped me wrongly and I appealed” comments someone was sure to post, either truthfully or otherwise. For things like cloned plates, wrong address, previously sold cars etc .But to say they are nothing but a cash cow is wrong. Its only a cash cow from people who flout the bus lane as if they are exempt. It does not catch two million pounds worth of drivers wrongly. Most of them thought “I’ll be quick so it dosnt matter” or they were not looking at the signs. Those same ones are usually the loudest at complaining about the cameras being used to milk motorists. Watch the road signs and dont drive where you shouldn’t (whether you agree with it or not) and the council wont get a penny of your money. Same for speed cameras.

Were the cameras installed when a change was made to the road or has the road been like it for a long time and the cameras are a recent thing?

I live in Leicester and yes the signage is very good and very clear so why they choose to ignore them is a mystery

Signs and cameras have been there for at least 2 years

It’s worth bearing in mind that the Leicester bus lanes in question (Charles St and Causeway Lane) are not the sort normally seen where one of the lanes of a multi-lane road is set aside for buses only (and marked accordingly), leading to motorists straying into them inadvertently as they run alongisde the regular lanes.

These roads are one-way streets for normal traffic, with the bus lanes running in the opposite direction. As a result, pretty much the only way to contravene them is to deliberately enter the street in the “wrong” direction (against clear signs, road markings and coloured tarmac). There are also advance warning signs clearly telling you that only buses, taxis and cycles are permitted to enter the streets in question, along with “Bus lane camera” information signs.

The last time I was in Leicester, it was full of different ethnicities. Is it possible that a lot of them are driving on licenses from other countries, and have never bothered getting a real one?
Maybe they don’t understand the English wording on the signs?
If this is the case, then perhaps the council need to employ a sniper watching over the bus lanes to help stop this build up of funds. I bet people would stop using them then.
