Company I work work for hardly do any back loads but collecting tomorrow from British Sugar in Kings Lynn and I’m dropping it at Tangerine in Blackpool on Friday…anything I need to be aware of beforehand about either place…?

You’ll have to do an induction at British sugar, so if you may want to arrive about half hour early for your booking time if you can. Health and safety is pretty hot. Also not allowed to wear shorts, so if you normally wear shorts make sure you have trousers to change into. No smoking anywhere on site and you could be a little while.

It’s not in Kings Lynn, it’s about 15 miles south on the B1160 in Wissington. when you arrive on site you will see the lorry parking area out front and you need to walk over to security to get your on site training and your mug shot taken, so comb your hair lol.
you’ll get a site pass which is valid for 1 year.
wear your high vis, boots and hard hat from the moment you step out the cab until you leave site and that includes going to security.
just remember the H&S gumph you get told and you’ll be fine.

tramping = sleeping out between shifts in the truck.
Trunking = home after every shift but usually one single destination for delivery and return as opposed to multi drop which will be several.

If its like it was when I used to deliver condensed milk there you’ll need to go further up the road to their other site where the weighbridge is, weigh off, come back, unload, go back up the road to the weighbridge, weigh off again. Its a right ballache.
I only went there once to load for Italy. I was there for four hours and then they refused to load me as one of the roof supports was damaged!! Not a happy bunny.
