1st May Who's hoping for a phone call from work?

Well guys it’s the 1st of May tomorrow ,New VED month
So any one on furlough who’s boss SORN’D their truck waiting on a phone call to come back on Monday ? or are you hoping not ?

Manager phoned me yesterday and said I would probably be back in on Monday.
If its a goer, he is going to confirm tomorrow. Part of me cant wait to go back but I was just starting to enjoy being at home so much.

I will be glad to get back cut the lawns that much it’s like Wembley, but now the Mrs keeps talking about decorating . so yes will be glad to get back in the driving seat.

Heard rumours a lot of businesses are cranking up again next week - let’s hope it’s true.

So do I as most firms even with the help they’re getting can last past July :frowning:
My boss told me and another worker when we’re chatting if it last longer than 3 months it could be game over :frowning: :frowning:

had our weekly update call from the TM…he saying our Operation hoping to be up and running at the end of May,so expecting to have us in the week before to get ready

Not had a day off all year

Seen a whole lot more boxes up and down the A34 in the last few days, Every other wagon seems to be a container and not just the usual suspects pulling them. Things must be picking up a bit.

Sent while in furlough

I had a call today, i am back in on Monday.

I’ll be off for another week yet (this is week two) so will see what happens. I’ll gladly stay off though tbh. The wife is furloughed, kids at home, the money covers the bills with some left over so happy days.

I’m certainly in no rush to go back and increase interaction with other people and get treat like a leper because people perceive that lorry drivers are rampant super spreaders of the disease despite the fact we come into contact with a fraction of the people that those who treat us in such a way do. I wouldn’t mind if it was doing stuff to help the national effort (food, medicines, supplies etc) but its just tat for bored people.

I’ve been off 6 weeks now. Had the call today to say the 4 of us drivers at our place probably won’t be back in until the end of may!!! I wish I was back in Monday. I’ve had enough now.

I can understand that you are starting to suffer cabin fever as the novelty of being at home starts to wear off, drinking beer and stuffing yourself silly is getting boring. But once you get into the 3rd or 4th week onwards I found things calmed down into a good routine.

I haven’t had a phone call yet, but I looked at the online portal that the firm use and found a recent message from one of the local managers stating work is picking up at the nearby sister depot of the client, and the agency office have been asked to look at who is available to restart. But this isn’t the depot that I normally work at, which is why I haven’t received a call yet. Though my gut feeling is that I’ll get a call to return before the end of the month due to more stores being reopened as the company implement the social distancing measures that supermarkets are using.

Got the call this morning. Back in on Monday but could only be a couple of days a week at the moment.

Oh I’d not be happy with that! I may be wrong but that would appear that you’ll be going from a furlough pay (assuming you’re getting it?) of 80% of average to 20% of average for doing two days a week.

A difficult one I admit as you need to balance having a job at the end of it all, but as I said, I’d personally not be happy.

now would be the time to self certify, start coughing, and self isolate with a panel line…

Well looks like an other week of late starts early finishes , :sunglasses: or basicly still on furlough

On the down side, all the extra wagons on the road means DVSA have started pulling again. Couple of days ago they were taking donations from a couple of our euro friends at Winnal.
