Well I turned up for the 3663 interview on Wednesday morning, thinking it would be just that.
What I got was a tacho test and an assessment then my interview.
The driving assessor as really laid back but i have to say I was really rusty had to say that I hadnât driven an 18 ton before ( training vehicle was 13 ) and it had one of those Scania semi Auto gearbox things. Took me round Banbury for about 30 mins, wasnât the smoothest drives but after reversing onto a bay he said everything was fine.
Went into the interview which I thought went well and was told to expect to know in a couple of days.
Today I phoned to see if they had any info and was told they are still interviewing and to expect a reply late next week. An hour passed and I got a phone call from the receptionist, they have offered me the job
I have handed my notice in today and my first day is on 6th September
Although its very hard work and it all handball, its a start. Its well paid and its what iâm used to because of driving for Bobbys Foods.
Nice one mate. Youâll probably find it a bit of a nightmare at first but once you get to know your route youâll fly through it⌠at least youâll keep fit too!
Iâve been doing multidrop handball stuff on agency and the problem with that is, you never do the same job long enough to get used to it so itâs a bloody nightmare everytime!

Thats what the assessor said, he was ready to pack it in after a week but gave it a bit of time and has been there 14 years now. I dont really mind the multi drop handball side of the job. Used to have 35 drops per day with Bobbys and you had to sell the stock first
Gonna have to dust my maps off though
On a different topic, have the uk motorways turned into Autobahns these days? Was coming back from the interview in the 3rd lane doing about 75 - 80 overtaking a line of truck that were overtaking each other. Nothing behind me until i notice a business man coming up in a Mondeo doing about 4 times the speed of sound. He then sits about 4 inches off my bumper with his right hand indicator on. As I pull infront of the trucks the indicator comes off and he continues on his merry way. I know they do this in Germany because youâre not allowed to flash drivers but has any one else experienced this?
Thats great buddy i have heard from a bloke that use to work for them did say it was hard work but as you said its a start so good luck and if you pass me on the M40 give me a wave i use it alot and i am always passing a 3663 truck
