1st January. NL truck ban

Now yesterday I was sat with a coffee and cigarette reading a Trucking based magazine where the following was mentioned-

From 1st January 2010 no truck over 8 years old will be allowed in Nederlands.

Is this true■■?

PLEASE SHOW the link to where you saw thsi as it is news that normally would be in every trucking MAG etc. if it is TRUE ans also been passed as LAW,

I can’t see that happening someho, there are an awful lot of Dutch companies/owner driver’s running older trucks.

However, there is a place we deliver to in Valkenswaard where they won’t allow trucks less than Euro-4 onto the premises to load or unload.

I suspect if it is true, the line that is missing is “without paying some more money” :unamused:

How about this?

lowemissionzones.eu/content/ … 8/lang,en/

Milieu

yes that seems to be the way many country’s are going
and this means only those who can afford to invest
and buy new equipment will be in the running for
such work which in turn, logic says the
Rates will have to be raised

I wouldn’t hold your breath regarding rates being increased as the companies most responsible for low rates are already running new equipment, paid for by us…(by the EU anyway)

Graham if you look at most road charges they are now
cheaper for the newer trucks by a considerable amount
and its a idiot who when they can invest and also get a grant
which lots of country’s are doing or cheap interest free loans
when the get a new truck, in some cases its a huge saving
when you take the amount payed out over a TAX year ,

i heard sweden was going to impose a blanket ban on trucks over 6 years old, god knows if its true or not

does this include classic lorries, busses n cars aswell i wonder?

No it’s not true. No truck over 8 years will be allowed into low emission zones within Holland, they will still be able to enter the country.

Pete, the information on this has been about for at least a year and probably more like 18 months.
