1st day as a newbie

Wow what a feeling of accomplishment when do things right as a newbie, yeah i took ages to reverse onto a bay in a tight yard and into a tyre outlet and every turn of the steering wheel didn’t go where i wanted it to or should say as quick as i wanted to but i got there eventually lol, some much to know and remember as on containers, are the twist locks on is the skelly the right length, ride height ok,enough diesel, enough ad blue,so basically the driving seems to be the easy part at the moment apart from reversing,I sit at steering wheel and say to myself “I need trailer to go left so steer right”,anyway been a long but good day just got the reverse at our tight yard to do then fingers crossed not hit anything or even a close shave,PHEW

Good stuff m8, I’m just starting out on containers myself so I know what you mean lol, it’s remembering things like to pull out the rear under run bar ect when loading a 45ft box. I’m sure it will all get easier as the days go on.

3rd day as a newbie and sussed all the sliding trailer procedures for change of containers and more reversing and yeah getting there or so i think until do a blind side reverse as only way onto the bay and took 6 shunts and 5/10 mins to complete, now am feeling when will it become less daunting at thought of reversing

It will all come in time I’m sure m8, more you do the easier it will get although nobody likes a blind side reverse. I’m just dying to get started now, I’m quite lucky in I learned to drive trucks at a very young age (my father was a h/contractor) so I was always shunting them around so no problem with reversing. But I know next to nothing about containers or setting up the skelly ect, its all new.
