Anybody heard of or completed any training with this company? Can anyone reccomend or any words of wisdom?
Yeah I know of them, they are about 15 miles away from my training base. Not sure what there like.
Remember to have an assessment at at least 2 training providers before choosing.

not a bad website but some inaccurate info on their B+E page
I don’t know them. But, going by their website, they don’t offer CE which is interesting.
My advice would be to go there for an assessment, then go to Paul at Elmet and maybe try us at Mansfield.
Not all training is the same. The offerings vary enormously. It really does pay to look around carefully before making your choice.

If your vehicle and caravan (and luggage / passengers etc.) weigh over 3500kgs then you will need a B+E licence entitlement too. Consider this example – Land Rover Freelander approx. weight 2100kgs + caravan 1400kgs + 4 people in your car = 3900 kgs
That bit because they are referring to actual weights
Licences go on plated weights

They are using this as an example as every model(titanium, titanium x ect (fords)) of cars are different weights and can’t give an exact weight of the car, so they have giving an approx weight for the vehicle.
Here is a bit form the category B in the licence check area from DVLA
“You can drive vehicles up to 3,500kg Maximum Authorised Mass (MAM) with up to 8 passenger seats and a driver (with a trailer up to 750kg).You can also tow heavier trailers if the total weight of vehicle and trailer isn’t more than 3,500kg”
The MAM is for the weight of the vehicle, not combined.

You are making the same error that they have by using actual weights
What matters for B towing is the plated weight total which is vehicle plated GVW added to trailer plated MAM
Those two plated weights must not add up to more than 3500

You should read the second paragraph of the category B on this page, as it doesn’t state MAM or GVW anywhere
gov.uk/driving-licence-categories
The B+E doesn’t state any as well.
"

From the same page.
Just a quick question… Can anyone recommend a driving school in Lincolnshire area for class 1 training. I have had my class 2 for a couple of years now and want to upgrade. Also is there a decent jump in money doing class 1 work. Cheers peeps.

We have a centre close to Peterborough where you could train in a manual w+d. We have our main centre in Mansfield where you have the choice of maual w+d, auto w+d or full size auto artic.
If more than 70 miles away you also get free accommodation.
10% discount for Trucknet users making the full cost (incl VAT and test) £1215. And it’s all 1:1 tuition.
Perhaps worth an assessment to see how you take to it/us.
Pete
Pete, so is that true free digs if over 70 miles away for that price above
Yes. With any of our full courses.
Pete
Thats a great price
and for us newbies who live just that to far out for a decent training school , You cant go wrong unless you fail
Thanks
It would be brilliant to be able to say that everyone passes 1st time and no - one ever fails. Sadly, that’s not the case. But, in the event of a retest being needed, any extra training is half price.
I mentioned in another thread the case of a guy I trained on artic who had 3 shunts on the reverse (only allowed 2) and got just 1 minor mark on the drive. He lives 150 miles away. When he comes back he’s getting 3 hours training completely free of charge.
Personally, I have the attitude that we need to make a profit to stay in business. We do this when we’re paid for the course. We don’t need to make any more after that.

I know all about that and other pages where the DVLA missed off the word MAM but that does not change the law
see pages 7 to 10 gov.uk/government/uploads/s … ins57p.pdf

I see what you are saying now.
As the website can get updated quicker than putting leaflets out I’m still going by the website.
Give 1st class training their dues - they are now going to change the text on the B+E page
Never take what DVLA write on the Gov pages as law because those pages are not checked by their legal experts - always double check elsewhere

I have always went by the DVLA site.
But I will be checking other sites/leaflets from now on.
Thanks
