1a/b/cpc different between truck/bus?

Sorry about title, couldn’t think of best way of putting it lol…

Questions are…

Are the hazard/theory different for each as per title?

If the same does it count for either or? So if done for a truck its valid for a bus an vise versa?

Do you need to do cpc for a Bus? If so is it same situations as asked above?

Apologies if a silly questions…
Reason i ask is I’ve managed to get a final interview for First Bus, I’m still going to do my HGV regardless of the final outcome but just wondered the above as I’m still trying to book my mods but its a wait, so I didn’t want to pay for them as the job is to include theory/hazard…(cpc??)…

So if they are valid for HGV it’d obvs be £60 saved…

Anyways Cheers as always TNUKers :sunglasses:

No, they’re different. Well, they’re not really, but the DVSA say they are… so you need to do a separate Mod 1,2 & 4 for PCV.

Once you have both, any additional CPC hours you do will count towards them both though.

Re: First. My advice: If you really want a PCV license, do it privately. Otherwise, First will have you by the danglies for ~2 years and may/will claw it back if you leave. Which you probably will. They also claw it back while IN work now too, about £20/25 per week.

HTH.

Does indeed cheers Geezer :sunglasses: :sunglasses:

You sound like you have previous with them… …■■..

Yeah I know its busses but I’m kinda thinking strings for bows, although truthfully I do want a CE career as my life goal but this is a very good opportunity I HOPE…

Well I shall just await a slot for my mods an get em done anyway, least I’m in pocket now thanks to you :sunglasses:

Tick both C & D only on the D2 form as that will always cover D4 medical for LGV & PCV

If you passed car test before 1997 then you have more options regarding driver cpc

Yes, I very nearly went down exactly the same road the £25/week payback put me off though, considering i could get it done a whole lot cheaper privately. Luckily, the job centre got me my PCV license for free, as I’d been made redundant. Already had got HGV licence myself, but ended up getting a job on the buses with them - hated it and left after about 8 weeks for a job on the milk tankers.

So, if you’re going to use buses to get ‘large vehicle’ experience, do it privately, then apply for one of their ‘qualified’ roles. You’ll still get a week or 2 extra training out of them before they set you loose anyway.

Have recently completed additional 35 hours CPC, which extended both truck & bus to 2024.

Good luck

Cheers ROG, I’m a post 97, just got my entitlements on my licence added so hopefully I’m one up in the many they will have in for it…

Cheers again all :sunglasses:

Thanks again mate, yeah I hear ya points, greatly appreciated :sunglasses:

I’ve been on agency for a good 6 month and its drying up, what little I do get is pish so I applied for First as its full time, paid to train and again a string for future…

Been job centre for some advice but they as much use as a chocolate tea pot, so we’re ticking by on savings till I’ve had the interview…if I fail I will be ticking for another month then I’m at a gun point moment as I will have to sign on which I REALLY DO NOT want to do…

I’ve applied to a local haulier for a training scheme, similar to the First setup BUT I can pay for my C license up front if I get it so I hope that will encourage them to give a Genuinely hungry applicant the chance.

If both fail then I will be off to Peter Smythe to do my rigid before end of year as I already have a deposit down for it, I’m just desperately trying to avoid the dole office at all cost and peters is hopefully my ace in the hole…

Plus side I’m awaiting an interview for Asda dot com driver so surely too God something full time will come up  Lol

I’m fully appreciative of them clawing it back, if I got it and passed I’d use my C money to pay em off, work a year, re save and then do my hgv’s, like I say I’m just fed up of agency crap so if I’ve gotta go round the house’s to avoid the dreaded fear of JCP I bloody will!!

What the ■■■■ is with this ■■■■. Where are these job centres?

What the [zb] is with this [zb]. Where are these job centres?

 These retraining things are national I believe, but it’s a bit of a right place / right time kinda thing, they aren’t always doing them. Normally you need to be out of work for a prolonged period of time to be eligible for them, but if you are made / take redundancy, you qualify too.

Had the choice of Cat C or Cat D, already had Cat C, so grabbed it cos i was gonna do it anyway. :stuck_out_tongue:

And I WONT be returning anytime soon to be a DRIVER for them, shocking attitudes to prospective employees…

Did you leave because of the job itself fella, as surely to god they cant as vile as I found today right across the board??
