Is there anywhere that will hire an 18tonne box with tail lift to a young driver? In particular a 21 year old with cat C (class 2) licence of under a year (but full clean driving licence of 4). They have an o licence, so should tick all the boxes except as far as I can see the age box. Based on the west side of London, but anywhere between there and Bristol will be fine.
If it’s on their own insurance, the hire company won’t care.
You will need your own insurance in place. Probably mostly expect fleet insurance really so don’t know how they would view temporary cover, if you arranged it.
Gullivers in Bristol would hire you one. I would think (but is a guess really) that as you’re required to provide your own insurance any age restriction will be an issue between you and your insurer.
Hmm. I work freelance for a company (not related to driving). If they have fleet cover, would I be able to be covered even though I don’t work for them full time? Are there insurers who cover this?

I don’t know but, assuming either the company you freelance for’s insurer or another one would do temporary cover I’m a bit worried the hire co might pull a face.
On our fleet insurance anyone with a valid licence is covered but, here’s the issue, they have to be over 27.
Depending on the price of the insurance, it may well be in the company’s interest to provide insurance. Is there a thread with insurance recommendations for self-employed drivers?
If they’ve got an o-licence, I’m assuming they’ve already got an insurer/broker providing cover on vehicles over 3.5t. They are the best bet as I don’t think you’ll get a broker interested in one off temporary cover on trucks very easily (might be wrong).
You may find they just dismiss it, based on age, to start with so you may need to persist and ask for an underwriter to look at your specific case. How easy/hard it is may depend on how big a customer the company is to the insurer.
